If could be that or leaky threads.
The casting has also been known to have develop pin hole leaks and seep fluids. I have experienced it myself and used quick steel (jb weld works too). to fill in the holes with good success. If you can find a new one then go for it but a used one runs the same risk of developing pin hole leaks.
