Hello,
I've been looking for a v6 mustang and I came across this one. https://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/4619740382.html
It looks like a good price, it's an 05. 135,000 miles. The car I'm driving now (an old Pontiac Grand Prix) is rusting out, the strut towers are about gone, and it's not worth fixing. I don't want to spend all my time and money fixing cars (I spend 20% of my pay check on car parts now). How reliable would this car be? Any big upcoming expenses common at this mileage? When could I expect to start having trouble? I know about the plastic thermostat housing, which isn't a big deal to me, easy fix. How long do the tranny and engine normally last?

This would be my daily driver, I'm thinking about swapping out the rear diff for a limited slip for snow, and get a set of snow tires. I'm located in Ky.

Here is a link to the on-line owner's manual http://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...erGuidePage&year=2005&make=Ford&model=Mustang

It's a used car. It can be difficult to foresee or determine what, or any, issues the car might have down the road. It is possible the car was meticulously maintained from day one, just like it is possible the car was ran hard and put away wet.

I would suggest, if the car is close to you, to take a good look at the car. Besides the obvious like the body, engine etc., look at the undercarriage for, if any, rust, the condition of the bushings, the condition of the fluids etc. Take the car for a test drive to see how it drives, shifts and behaves. If the car was taken care of, I can only think of maintenance items that would maybe need attention/replaced.

At Least it will better than the Gran Prix:D
