Tranny Swap

I have a tranny out of a 63 galaxie 390. My 67 fastback has a 390 with a c6 now. it has problems and was wondering what problems or mods would I encounter if I wanted to swap

Which tranny do you have from the Galaxie?

not sure, just know it was off 390 car. what are the different ones and which one do I need?

Well my guess is more than likely it is a C6 so should be a direct fit. There should be a tag on the tranny to identify what it is.

according to some sources, C6 didn't come out until '66...think they called them ford-o-matics in'66. I'm sure it'll bolt up to engine, but wasn't sure about the length, thus effecting drive shaft fitting. I guess I need to do some measuring, huh?
