Hello, I have an 01 3.8 with the auto trans and it is leaking trans fluid really bad. I replaced the gasket and it is still leaking. Looks like there is a leak where the filler tube connects to the trans case. I got a new O-ring from Ford but now not sure how to remove the tube itself. From what I have found the tube is bolted to the back of the engine. Does anyone know the easiest way to get to that bolt? Can I get to it from the top of the car or do i have to be under it? Do I have to remove the exhaust to get to it? Also do you recommend using any type of sealer with the o-ring to make sure it stops leaking?
