Engine DUI distributor height?

Is anyone running the DUI Ford Street/Strip distributor on their 302? That's the one with the coil and the ECM built right into the distributor. I'm trying to decide if one of those will fit on my engine. I've got a 14" air cleaner and DUI says the cleaner will have to be 13" or less. Of course that depends on how tall the distributor is. So, I'm looking for the height of the DUI from where it seats on the block to the top of the cap. The diameter of the cap at the top would also be helpful. With my stock distributor the top of the cap sits about 3/4" below the bottom of the air cleaner but would also clear the air cleaner by about 1/4" if the distributor were taller.
Thanks!

Engine 02 GT mod list opinions

I'm new to this 4.6 game and I'd love some input on the mod list so far. We got this 02 GT 5 speed last month and it already had long tubes, a catted H-pipe, cat back exhaust, 3.73 gears, a TKO500 trans with a stiff clutch and a nice shifter. I just installed a Steeda under drive pulley set and I've got an Accufab 75 mm plenum coming but I'm undecided about the throttle body. I also have an SR cold air system to install. No FI in the future but I know a tune will compliment the list to make it a nice, fun weekend car. So, they have VMS throttle bodies on eBay for $68, are they any good and opinions on the mods and on a tune are welcome too. Thanks.

SROD Bellhousing Score

You have to love small town Oklahoma salvage yards. Got it for $75 with the dust cover and clutch fork. Will not be using the clutch fork, pivot ball, or dust cover as this will be used on a Tremec TKX later down the road. Little oven cleaner and a good power washing will have the two layers of blue paint, engine oil, and clutch dust off of it and looking like new. The TKX is way down the road but starting to gather the "cheap" parts now.

2006 convertible blend door actuator

I’m going to attempt to replace the blend door actuator in my 2006 mustang. New to car repair diy, not stupid, just no actual experience. Hubby always took care of it and he died 18mos ago. Haynes doesn’t even mention this part! So all I have is YouTube videos. Anyone done this before who could walk me through it? For starters, is there one or two? One on passenger side and one on drivers side? Need to figure out what parts to order. Thanks!

Repair frayed seat belt on 98 Gt convertible

I bought this car with 4 miles on it, Christmas day 1998, looks great, runs great, but after many years of wear and tear the seat belt on driver's side has frayed and I really don't want to replace it if possible, but it won't pass inspection because of it. It breaks my heart to have to drive my husband's truck while my car sits in the garage.
Please help....my men folk think it's time for me to get a car suited for my age. LOL I would rather replace them than my Mustang

Non PI heads w/cams on a PI block

Ok so I know you can get significant gains by doing the PI head swap on a non pi block......but what about the other way around?

Let's say I were to take a 99 Gt short block and build it with 96 heads and intake....what would be the end result?

Reason I'm inquiring is I've got 3 motors....factory 96 with a cracked block but good internals and heads, 98 with either a dropped freeze plug behind the flywheel/ cracked block with internals an heads, 99 short block with no heads......

Fox Foxbody dies at idle and when reving fast

1991 Foxbody
replaced : Fuel pump , radiator , distributor , coil , starter coil,

When I changed radiator my fuel pump stopped working replaced it with temporary fuel pump drove it for few days one day when coming home from work with low fuel , forced the fuel pump alot and fried it since it wasnt high pressure i orderd new 255 lpm fuel pump now my car idles for few seconds then dies and when i try to rev it , it just dies
If i leave it revving it'll stay alive im able to slowly rev all the way to 4k rpm but as soon as i quickly try to rev it seems like the fuel cuts off but if i unrev the car a little it'll come back to live.

2001 4.6 new injectors and coils question

Have a 2001 gt 4.6 and had to replace the intake as it cracked. I figured I would also replace the injectors, plugs, and coils. The car has a tune from previous owner and have the control. My question is will the current tune be ok just replacing like for like items or will it need to be retuned again and if so how would I do that with current tuner? I’m sure it only has 1 tune on it.

66 Coupe noisy rockers

Hi All, I recently picked up a 66 coupe with a 68 302 in it. I rebuilt the top end with new flotek heads comp cam roller tip rockers new cam, lifters, double roller timing chain. My problem is the rockers are noisy as hell and i went over the adjustment 3 times but they are still making noise. Any suggestions or is it normal for roller tip rockers to be a bit noisy?

RANT!!! Is this guy crazy for his asking price?

Hey all,

Just saw something really cool on marketplace, a high mileage coupe that I would love to turn into a project. One problem, though. The guy is asking for $14,000 on a high mileage car and there is some floor pan rust. He has some mods done to the suspension and clutch but nothing much else. Personally I think that this is an outrageous price but am I just lowballing it? It's the exact color, body style and transmission I've been looking for and it's close to where I live. What would y'all offer him? I was thinking 6-7 grand at most.

Decisions decisions Pro M or Holley Terminator X

Hello all,

Recently, I have been getting a plan together on what to do with my 89 Fox automatic GT. The car has 87K on it and was driven by an older gentleman before I bought it of a mechanic making me the third owner. Asides from a tune up and some mild go fast parts, I haven't done a lot with it but plan on fully restoring it to a beast street car with some occasional strip usage. Before anything it will be getting a T-5 transmission and upgraded suspension here in a few weeks. After that, My plan is to go with an ON3 turbo kit. With that , the stock computer is gonna go. I have been reading about the difference between the PRO M engine management set-up and the Holley terminator X. Both seem like great systems but am leaning towards the more expensive PRO M because I like that it keeps the mass air meter in the mix and is somewhat more plug-n-play. However, Wiring doesn't really scare me either , nor does learning how to tune. I just wanted to get some opinions from people that may have ran either set to see what they have to say. SO for those running a term X what do you think. For those running a PRO M what do you think. IS anyone running either system with a power adder, what is your overall impressions with drivability, tuneability etc.

Thanks

Where to Buy a Motor Similar to the GT-40 Crate

Well my mechanic did a compression test on my old Ford Racing Crate Motor and it wasn't good.
It served me well 15 years drag racing. Here's the link from the one I have.
Ford Performance Parts M-6007-XB3M (summitracing.com)
Does anyone know of any companies that make something very similar that I could just drop in my car. I'm looking for something in the $4000.00 - $6000.00 range. Long block. I am still using the stock computer efi with 24lb injectors Edelbrock Performer 5.0 Intake. Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

2015 Mustang GT Rear Brake Calipers Complete Disassembly - with integrated parking brake mechanism

Would love some tips if anyone out there has completely disassembled the rear brake calipers from a 2015 Mustang GT or similar. I want to get the calipers powder coated, which of course requires them to be completely taken apart with everything removed, including the integrated parking brake mechanism. The parking brake mechanism is what I don't immediately know how to remove. There is a snap ring inside the caliper cylinder, and the bracket on the outside has a washer that seems to be friction locked around the bolt protruding from the caliper. Is it as simple as using a puller to pull the bracket and washer off the bolt, then removing the snap ring and pulling the bolt out through the cylinder?

Engine Air intake manifold leak advice

Hi all,

I fixed up a vacuum leak today (or mostly did at least) at my A/C vacuum reservoir (picture attached). Along with that, I finally got a chance to run a leak check on my air intake manifold with the MAF port covered with a glove. I saw a fair amount of smoke seeming to seep out of the front part of the manifold, but honestly it seems to be coming from a few spots.

My guess so far is the air intake manifold gasket(s) at the least is shot or worn out and needing replacing, but I am also curious about the other various components going in.
Attached is a video and some pictures of the smoke output (unfortunately I couldn't personally find a clear indication of where it was coming from, but it mostly seemed at the initial connections and sensors there.

As of right now, these leaks are what is causing the rough idle and cold start for the first 1-2 minutes. 1500-2000RPM for 1-2 minutes will keep the car from fluctuating idle and stalling. After this, subsequent starts are flawless.

Any ideas on a better way to test for leaks or identify specific leaking points in my scenario, or does the video/image provide enough insight on the leak? I can definitely run another leak test if there's any advice on areas for improvement or focus.

Happy to provide a video of the cold start also if that'd help.

Thanks as always and hoping I can sort this ordeal out.

Electrical Tachometer issue

Slowly restoring my 93 gt. The tachometer needle goes in reverse then back to 0.

Anyone find a fix for this? Recommend a place to start? This started randomly when I first bought the car. I ended up putting in an aftermarket tachometer and tried to not look at it haha. About time to get it working normal again. Thanks in advance!

The dreaded flashing airbag light just started

1991 GT Vert…Reinstalling removed factory A/C

I’m new to the forum and a new old mustang owner…I recently purchased a 91 GT convertible. The car was on its way to becoming a drag racer but is still relatively stock. I plan to take it back to completely stock…The previous owner removed the factory A/C, and it looks like the power steering pump may have been repositioned. I’m trying to figure out how to mount the compressor, locate the compressor and pressure switch wiring. Also the condenser has been removed and there is an electric fan installed…is the electric fan an aftermarket add on? I can’t remember seeing an electric fan on a car this age.

Any tips or help will be greatly appreciated.

Holley 7'' Digital Dash and 3.5'' Dash read different...

Upgraded from the 3.5 handheld to the 7'' Holley Dash to my Terminator X in my 91 Fox Body Mustang...The 7.0'' Dash will not read the data correct from the can connection...I put a splitter in the can connection and hooked back up the 3.5 Handheld to compare readings...The 3.5 reads correct and the 7'' reads incorrect on some readings...Water Temp on the 3.5 reads 155* and on the 7'' will read 103*...Volts will read 14.2V on the 3.5 and the 7'' will read 33.5V...Fuel pressure will read 43 psi on the 3.5 Dash but 0.0 on the 7.0...Got Holly Tech support on the phone and we checked to make sure that the software versions were up to date and correct on both the 7.0 Dash and the Terminator X ECU...After literally an hour of trying different things, he suggested I need to send the 7.0 Dash and my ECU back to them to be checked out....They have a 3-4 week lead time for repairs, and I was not happy about that...Have any of you all had anything like this or suggestions as to what I might can try, before I have to send the Dash and the ECU back to Holley...and Yes he wants both of them...
What an awesome community!
