Fox How to increase turbocharged fox engine sound?

I am pretty new to car modifications. I understand what a turbo does with taking the exhaust gases to spool turbos. How would you counter act a 302 with (for example) a b-cam and regain a closer to normal sound? I know it's stupid since the obvious solution would to not use a turbo in the first place but I want to see what I could do to get away with it since turbos appear to be better (pricing wise) to gain HP

New parts/project car find

i just picked up a 1983 glx vert in the dark academy blue with the 3.8L in it for $800. It was a single owner car and was stored away since 1993. Everything is there and still has the blue paint on the bottom. Came from PA. The thing is just so dirty from rodents chewing their way through the convertible top. Theres (was) a lot of pee and :poo: all over. The interior is leather blue, so it wasn't a big task to clean them up.

The body is in such good condition that down the road i might do some fun drag stuff with the pops. Thats for later though lol.

Fuel pump making noise/staying on after turn off

My fuel pump sounds like it stays on when the car is off completely. Theres also a high pitch sounding noise coming from it too. I noticed that if i slam the door a couple times to kinda shake the car, itll go off. Its a new fuel pump in the car. I was thinking maybe electrical issue, but i have no clue where to start for it. I have a video of the sound when its off from both the fuel lines under the hood and from the trunk. Theres no radio on or anything, all of that buzzing is coming from the tank

Heres the video i took of the noise:

Convertible Top Cables

So at the end of last season, my convertible top decided that it wasn't going to go down evenly anymore, or without manual assistance. Since I've had the car (87 GT), when I put the top down, it has always been a little higher on the passenger side than the driver's side, so I figured that it was the tension cable for that side. I found them on LMR and ordered a set. The problem is, I can't find any instructions anywhere on how to install them. Does anyone here know how to do it?

Foxbody-SN95 brake conversation issue

I took the rear end out of a 95 GT donor car and converted my foxbody to 5 lug and all disk brakes. Rear end is completely rebuilt with Sn95 ( fox length) moser axels. I cut and switched the caliper brackets like other forums recommended. Everything went back together great except the new rear brake calipers. The calipers seem to be pulling the back of the rotors inward causing the fronts to push out and coming off the flange. This is causing it to bind and not roll easily after the wheels are torqued down.

Did anyone shim the caliper brackets out with a washer to get the alignment that’s needed?

Fox Any tips on replacing a fox body horn?

The horns on my 1987 GT convertible foxbody went out. I replaced the horn pad in the steering wheel in case that was the issue, and can tell it's working. The horns are still shorting out and blowing fuses, so I bought some new ones from LMR. I'd rather not pull the front bumper off and all that to access the old horns and swap them out. I think there's a way to get to them through the wheel well, but I'm not sure that will work. Anyone here know the easy way to get at the horns? I really appreciate the help, thanks!

Resolved 1991 Foxbody 5.0 LX Coupe cranks and no start.

I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve, and with the key on I got 42 PSI so it's getting fuel. I pulled a sparkplug out and it's clean not fuel fouled. I checked the screaming Deamon coil for spark with a spark tester and got no spark, how many ohms should I get from the coil with it just sitting there all unplugged? maybe I need a new one? as well as the TFI module what do you guys think? also, my water pump is leaking through the weep hole on the pump was looking at this https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinf...nfo.php?pk=948840&cc=1134010&pt=2208&jsn=1573 what do you think of gates water pumps? also since I had my battery disconnected for like 4 weeks while I waited to get my Ecu back from EcuExchange.
got it back reinstalled it, and hooked up the battery, if I buy this INNOVA 3145 Ford Digital OBD1 Code Reader will I get any codes?

for a new TFI module, I will get the Motorcraft one

1988 mustang MSPNP2 idles well but then dies

Hello all, I have very little experience with tuning. That being said, I have a mostly stock 88 mustang with some bolt ons. I just installed the new ecu, and have loaded a base tune. I believe I have all the initial setup things correct, the car starts and seems to run ok, but then it just falls on its face and dies. Not much I can do to keep it running.

I would be more than happy to pay someone to help walk me through getting this running correctly if anyone does remote tuning.

I have attached the .msq and the log file. The log file is basically me starting the car, and everytime it starts to die I try to give it fuel but it still ends up dying.

New 98 Mustang Cobra Owner

New Cobra owner here, I've had several Mustangs but first ever Cobra. It's mostly stock with some bolt-on's.

I'm definitely no mechanic, but I do like to tinker and know what I can do and what I can't do. I've had the car for a few weeks now and have noticed a "chirp" when driving the car under acceleration. I've been researching the issue for a few days now, looking on several different forums, but nothing really matches my issue. I'm looking for some advice on what to look for. The car 2 years ago had a new or rebuilt trans installed along with a clutch (that's all the info I have, don't know about TOB) Below are the symptoms.

1. The car doesn't seem to make this noise until it's really warmed up and after driving it for a bit, then it will start out soft and progressively get louder.
2. The "Chirping" sound seems to only happen upon aggressive acceleration and happens in each gear 1st - 4th, not really in 5th and not in R. Does not do it when idling or when
winding it up a bit. The chirping sound is successive until I get off of it.
3. It has some pretty LOUD exhaust so it's a little difficult to find out exactly where it's coming from, but appears to be coming from the middle of the car around transmission.

Troubleshooting I've done:

1. Removed the inspection plate for T45 and the clutch cable, visual inspected that movement of the fork and TOB seems smooth, but TOB is a little lose on the input shaft. Meaning I can get my fingers in there and move it side to side.
2. When I took the clutch cable off, I pushed the cable back towards firewall in order to get it out of adjustment... Then when I got it back on, pulled the clutch pedal up and it re-adjusted itself. I then drove the car and same result.
3. I've visually inspected drive shaft, belts, wheel bears, etc to see if I can recreate the same sound but no result. Like I said it only does it after warmed up and when driving...

I have not taken it to a shop yet to get their advice, which is my next move if I can't figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas of anything I should do or look for?

Jeff

New here but I have problems

Hello,

I have a 87' foxbody (mass air car) and I recently took apart the upper manifold a
I change injectors to 24 pound. I put it back together and it idled in the 1,500s without coming down for 30 seconds. I went ahead put a new IAC and TPS, and adjusted the idle down but it won’t stay consistent. The car now surges under idle after a minute or it will stall out. The car also smells very rich out of the exhaust.
It has:
Edlebrock heads and intake
70 mm throttle body
24 lb injectors w Pmas mass air
E cam
Long tubes etc.

Help please!!

Gas smell inside 97 stang…. Strong fumes! Help.

Hello All.
I Took my 97 gt vert out today and had the top down. I’ve had this problem but it seems to be getting worse pretty fast. All I smell is raw gas inside the car. It seems to be when I put gas in the tank. Especially above 1/2-full. To the point where I can barely drive with the smell. I replaced the gas filler grommet a couple months ago so I’m pretty sure it’s not that. There is no gas leaking from the car. There is also no check engine light. I have no idea what it could be. If it was a vent line from the tank wouldn’t that set a check engine light? Must not be the purge line or that would set off a evap code. Has anyone had this before?

Would anyone know what lines it could be or a line to smoke and see if there is a leak. Trying everything I can before having to drop the tank. Thanks.

Please Help!! 2000 Mustang Theft Light, car won't start issue...

I have a 2000 Mustang Convertible V6, with 73k miles, I was driving the car and was coming to a stop sign, all of the sudden the car lost power, lights came on dash and car cut off, when trying to restart the car the turns over and will not start, the theft light flashes very quickly and the odometer has no mileage numbers showing, only dashes where mileage should be, towed the car home, have tried to reset (PATS) Passive Anti Theft System, however car is in the same mode. Tried the other key for the car and still the same thing, I live in a very small town where it is very hard to find anyone with knowledge on this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a way I can bypass this system totally? Any ideas on what I should check? Anyone ever had this issue and had the car die on them while driving down the road? PLEASE HELP... Thanks

connecting accelerator & cruise control cables on '98 GT

I just can't find an image anywhere. All of my searches get overwhelmed with results to *buy* the cable and to replace the throttle body!

I replaced the intake manifold about three years ago, and then it wouldn't kick over. Apparently it also chose that moment for the fuel tank to get so corroded that it couldn't push gas.

So with a new fuel tank and pump housing with pump, it starts again.

But back near the beginning, I had to disconnect the accelerator cable to get the manifold out. I also broke the clip on the end of the cruise control cable.

We grabbed the wrong tip to the cable from the junk yard, but that's small in the problem and easily fixable with another trip.

Just can't remember how this goes back together!
IMG_0541.jpg

Apparently, i didn't take pictures of that section . (uncharacteristic, giving how many general photos I have of every repair!)

The end of accelerator (red) has to snap in to the cruise cable (orange), the spring must go from red to green, and I seem to recall that *something* went in the groove on the throttle mechanism.

does it matter which way the spring goes? that the filler fastens at one end makes me wonder.

IMG_0542.jpg

Also, I seem to have an open vacuum line at yellow. Any idea where that would go?

I picture of the installed parts in a 98 would be wonderful.

this is the only thing currently keeping this car from going back on the road!

Bad idle and sputtering when hot

I have a 92 mustang 5.0 with some mods done. when cold started it has a rough idle unless I unplug the iac the rpm’s drop the way they should. it’ll drive fine for about 10 mins and then it’ll bog completely on its face past half throttle and will eventually die if you don’t pull over and let it cool down. I’ve listed the mods done down below some that might not matter but i listed them anyway thanks.

World product 200cc heads forged DSS SX series Pistons Scat I beam rods
Scat 347 crank
Bored .40 over
30 or 36lb injectors
High flow oil pump
255 fuel pump
70mm mass air
70mm throttle body
(Edelbrock intake Port matched to the heads)
What an awesome community!
