Build Thread The Hoopty Chronicles - New House, New garage, New Car?

I know where youre at brother. I havent finished my exhaust, and that is the only thing keeping mine from driving... Its been sitting half done for over a month because I burnt myself out of working on it. Hoping that letting it sit over the winter will help me regain motivation in the spring.

I’m also undertaking an interior upgrade. The seats have always been crap. It came with nasty base model cloth seats. I put in SN front and rears, but they’re still raggedy. So today, i bought a rear seat for $20 (for a hatch, but oh well. I’ll find an upper part) I’m going to fine some raggedy sport seats, and then buy an Acme grey tweed upholstery kit for $300. They’ll be good as new and will make the interior look worlds better.

I’m glad to see you keep it man. I think we’re in pretty similar boats.
My shop time has been reduced by 90% or more in the last few months. While that is self-imposed, I made some mistakes early on and spent too much time trying to keep doing things the way I did pre-child.
Have to strike a balance, which I think you’re better at than me. But it’s damn hard when a car keeps kicking you in the teeth every chance it gets and all that time you already wished you spent with the kid and money you wish you’d have used other places feels wasted.
It’s not a hobby I can give up on, as many times as I’ve tried to find something else to do. I think you’re probably right there too.
No harm in letting it sit a few months until you’ve thought out a plan and can move forward. This stuffs supposed to be fun, I’ve found a lot of ways to make it...not. And I haven’t really got to enjoy mine yet.

It stranded me again yesterday lol

That’s it, i haven’t adjusted well. I need to make it fun again. Edit - i think that’s going to be found in small, brainless projects completed while the car stays in running condition

I have no idea what to tell you man. I watch your build the same way I’d watch brain surgery. It’s cool, but well beyond my scope of understanding. I hope you get it worked out

I also still have the urge to back my sht out in the driveway and do a burnout til the engine REALLY eats itself.

Can’t do that

I appreciate the shout out(s) :D
And honestly-I’ve done that very thing-satisfying for the moment when it all blows apart-then you realize it’s now all junk and ya still gotta fix it lol

Hopefully whatever plan you choose at the end there is satisfaction. Once you get the car running keep your projects small and your car on the road. I have a soon to be 10 y/o son, twin 5 y/o girls, and a 13 week old baby girl and little time on my hands for messing around. I however will find time somewhere to intercool my KB this winter because I have an incredible wife and I've learned that my best time to get car work done is after 9pm when all of my kids are tucked in bed. I'm up at 4:45 am for work so I have to make that little bit of time count. I'm sure you'll figure out a balance and it seems like you have a supportive wife which truly is the key.

P.S. Fellow Stangnetters,
I have an ex-wife up for adoption, high miles, well fed, moody and sometimes bites, free to any good home

Yeah, I usually work from 7-8:30 in the garage. It's after the baby goes down and before dinner. My wife is supportive to a point. She knows it's part of my life, but sneers at me buying parts.

I recently told my wife that in a couple years I'd like to sell my Foxbody and move up to a new LPF (Lebanon Perf. Ford) supercharged 5.0. So far she's on board. She's a keeper :D

Would the junkyard fresh 351 need gone through to hang the hairdryer back on it?
It would be a sloppy mechanics style "stick it in and let it eat" type deal. Let it eat as in, I'm going to drive around and not make any boost. I don't know how I'm going to come up with $2400 yet either. It's not just couch change.
