More diversity needed in the NFL

I refer to the post I made about Brian Flores. I'm not sure what is supposed to be a fair representation. Black population in the US is about 20%...if you count black and another race. Black population alone is about 13%. There are two black coaches in the NFL...three if you count the new Miami coach who is part black. With 32 coaches, 20% would be 6. Would they be happy if 3 more coaches were hired? I get they want diversity but it's like the Supreme Court argument. Are we supposed to override ability for diversity?

So...... I heard Strahan blubbering about the 70% black in Football should mean MORE black coaching staff.. And MORE black this and more black that....
Ok fine, so with 13% why are 90% of commercials black or mixed races?? OK for one but not the other
Wish I could of asked Strahan about more black everything EXCEPT " wives"........LOL.........

The problem is if you call them out on this you are racist.

So if 70% of pro players are not white, (your number for the discussion), and college teams are similar in make up, please explain why wouldn’t a similar percent of the best players go on to at least assistant coaching their specialty? And unless a player has TBI, and that has nothing to do with skin color, why would a black or brown player have less chance of being a head coach?
I’m listening why this is not already the case by ability.

I wonder what blacks are thinking when everything is about them. You cant turn anything on without " BLACK ". I have been saying "hi " to all the black ladies, and they all seem real chummy' I like black women

OK
#1.. NOT my number, Strahans number..... Just repeating what was said....
#2.. Just because they are a great player does NOT mean they will make a great coach.. So Ability has NOTHING to do with COACHING....
#3... Obviously this IS THE CASE BY ABILITY, and Strahan is trying to make it a an affirmative action thing
A comment made was these BILLIONAIRE owners will do ANYTHING to win.. So if there were SO MANY GREAT Black coaches, there would be MORE of them coaching...
Now if its going to be a Percentage thing, if blacks are 13% of the population, why are they 90% of all the commercials on TV....
Pretty sure the "wife" thing was self explanatory....

Limp, I’m not talking about commercials and what agendas are being pushed by Hollywood in them or the programming.
And your wife issues are something I will not touch either.

I am addressing the coaching issue. If someone is going to be a great coach in a sport, they are going to have to play it first. If only .5% of players make great head coaches and another 1% makes good assistant coaches, please tell me exactly why these coaches would not be fairly representative of the population of the players. Please be specific and do not use euphemisms.

Example - I am great at motivating and educating in my fields, but beyond strength and conditioning, any football team I would coach would loose a lot, probably valiantly and reliably so. I avoided the jackass bully of a high school Fb coach and PE “teacher” to participate in other sports and activities. So this white male would make a poor FB coach.

The board has been diverse enough to get some honest answers to that - if they have not been offended and left by now. Having your screen with a white background or on dark moon does not change who all likes Mustangs.

I don't pay much attention to the fooseball but coaching and playing are two different things. You can study and learn to be a coach. There are even degrees in such things.

There are also more than just a few professional coaches that have never played but not in [just] fooseball:

And how is that color determinate? A player certainly should have enough money to continue his education if that is his goal.

I wasn't addressing color at all. Just that playing isn't a stepping stone to being a coach. The only reason I mention it is because as a kid, I knew several professional coaches where that was always their profession.

That is by far the exception. And those coaches most likely were offered extra duty pay and arm twisted into it.

The coaching courses are offered to anyone, but the great coaches almost always have experience in the sport (or a similar sport) and natural ability with motivation or teaching.

Edit: for a long time, back before high risk testing and national standards, standard phrases in ads for teaching positions were “Coaching Available”, “extra duty pay with qualifications” or similar. It meant the school was looking for coaches and would let them have a classroom position. That’s how a lot of those not great players you remember from school ended up with coaching duties.

Maybe it's because the NFL is an entertainment business. They rely on drama just as much as they do athletic ability for viewership. Racism is a dramatic hot topic.
