I am going to have a lot of pieces left over ,if anyone needs them pm me and i will make you a deal ,they will be for 67 -68 although the inner wheel tubs will work on the 5-6 s. There is rockers ,the complete front door and window posts ,the complete rear door post for 67 -8 fast backs and several pieces for the 67 -68 door area ,including the outer metal kick panels, and inner and outer wheel tubs for 67 -8 .

Just a little somthing i found while i was digging through my parts stash. They are fiberglass ,i made them many moons ago for a racer and forgot i had them . They weigh a fraction of the pot metal headlight buckets and that little tab at the top that always breaks on the originals ,aint going to on these . They are stronger than the pot metal buckets so i will use them on this conversion. I still have the molds some where around here ,i will have to find them, they were made from a very nice set of originals . I didnt even finish trimming them out all the way yet

Trying to get the time to work on my own projects is really hard to do . I just finished putting a quarter on a 68 Firebird ...amd the GM sheet metal does not fit as easily as the Mustangs does . Now i have both quarters on a 67 fast back to do ,and i can get back on my project

I have been trying my best to get back on this again but to much stuff in the way . Finished the roof on the firebird ,then they decide they want quarters ,of course the quarters should have been first ...that was not a lot of fun.
Have a couple of quarters on 67 fastback to go and just maybe i can get back on it

I decided to build this conversion at the same time as the 65 ,that i still have to get off the rotisserie .
I got out the Ryobi battery pack saws all and flipped its lid

the back seat and trunk divider panel is gone

The 68 is pretty well cut apart ,still a bit of trimming to do and i probably will remove the tail panel ,this one has a big dent above the gas cap and i do have a new one already .the floor will come out next and everything inside will get sand blasted ans epoxy primed before the new sheet metal goes on .

I do have a question about this conversion: do you buy the upper door frame as part of a larger parts kit? I ask because I was looking at the door frames that Dynacorn offers and couldn't really find anything for '65-'66 other than a full door frame that includes the rocker and a-pillar.

The more I look at the pictures you've taken during all these conversions, the more I see how every part fits together. Looks very doable. The trick is just keeping it level when you're installing the new metal.

There are a lot of important things, but another I suspect is to measure your car before cutting it up and to verify you are duplicating those measurements before doing any welding. Lots of measuring!

Yep ,the metal comes in a kit ,that is the only way to get the needed metal . I buy it in un welded form for 67-68 but 65 -66only comes as a welded side so you have to remove what you do not need ,what is left over in the kit i either use on another project or sell to someone needing it

The fast back measurements are different for a fast back ,you really need a fastback to get the measurements from ,i have both a 65 and a 67 for measurements. It does have to be level and square or you will have a twisted car when finished
