Progress Thread Therapy Car-- Freshening Up the Lower Intake

Mine looked pretty good before etching, nice and smooth. If I got it wet you could see it a little bit of hair, but after etching it was bad. I used muriatic acid and water to do the etching per the instructions. I might have gotten a little crazy with the Cheez Whiz when I was adding the acid....

Still messing around with floors, but the LMR fairy did show up yesterday!

Just a few things that I knew I was going to replace or needed.

Finally got to mess with the car a little bit. Put the new ignition coil on and took it for a short run to see if it helped. The almost dying under hard acceleration and slight surge while just cruising at constant speed seem to be gone. I replaced a MSD unit with a Motorcraft.I also pulled the mass air meter and cleaned the sensor with cleaner specifically designed to clean them, CRC stuff from O'Reillys. I cleaned it after I took it for a ride to test the coil. I still cant pull codes so that hinders things. I'm sure that I'll get it sorted out once in the shop. The car was running good, but the check engine light and check oil light both came on. The oil pressure gauge was showing good pressure and it has plenty of oil in it. Again I cant check codes, but any one have an idea of why the oil light would have came on?

My better half is going to start cutting in the base coat on the shop floor this week. The goal is to get that coat down this week and start on the second coat next week. We have more company coming this Friday, so we'll see how far we can get.

This is a close up pic of the garage floor. You can see the hair that I keep going on about in it.

Not sure how they troweled it. It was already in place before we got involved in the build. This is the garage floor so I wasn't worried about the finish. The shop is another story. It was machine finished and I want it to be smooth. Its gonna be fine. At this point I feel like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but I'm committed! Gonna see this thing through.

Thanks for offering up the flakes! I've got a huge bag left over from the garage floor.

Good things and not so good things happened yesterday. The misses got fired up and cut in the epoxy on the shop floor! Then 4 hours later that 50% chance of rain 50%ed all over the place. I dont think it hurt anything, but its going to be awhile before we can finish putting the first coat down.

Drove the car to work today. About 32 miles one way. It ran great. No stutter at constant speed and it doesn't try to go dead if you get on it a little. The check engine light came on again as well as the check oil light. It has plenty of oil in it and the pressure, according to the factory gauge, looks good. I installed a MM solid steering shaft a few months back when I was working on the front end. I had a bit of play in the steering wheel after install. Just a couple of degrees of wheel turn either way before it connected and actually started turning the wheels. I was told you had to really tighten the crud out of the connecting point at the top of the shaft. It was already tight, but I got back in there and really got on it. Honestly it didnt feel like it really moved, but now the steering in nice and tight! I guess it did something :). Only problem now is the wheel, air bag, is slightly cocked to the right with the car going straight down the road. It's annoying, but I'll get it sorted out at some point. The people that were going to come stay with us this weekend had to reschedule due to the storm in the gulf, they live in Baton Rouge. They aren't in danger of storm damage its other reasons, but if the weather holds out here I'm going to try to install the new O2 sensors this weekend.

I am looking forward to seeing the final product of the floor finished. I lucked out on my house that the floor was already painted
You and me both! It's killing me having all that space and not being able to do anything with it. If everything works out it should be done in about a month or so. Plan to get back on it next week.

Once the floor is done I can move stuff in, but then the next step will be to get all the lighting up and start dropping receptacles. At the moment I've got 200 amp and not a single outlet.

I think I figured out why my low oil light is coming on.

This is exactly what happened before my low oil light started coming on. I bet I pinched the pig tail somewhere. I'll check it out while I'm under there changing O2 sensors.

Got one of the O2 sensors changed, drivers side. The passengers side one currently on the car has a very long pig tail. The one I have is short.

You can see a pic of the one I have already posted in the pic. I'm pretty sure I need to get O2 sensor wire extensions as my car has long tubes and it appears the PO just made it work.

Made a discovery. Apparently when I unhooked my O2 sensor wire to make sure I had the right one a couple months back, I forgot to hook it back up. Car ran fine driving it yesterday but I'm sure it didnt do it any good.

When I went to roll up the driver's side window yesterday it got to the top and started making a popping sound. Not good. When I when to roll it down it didnt want to go until I helped it. Now it doesn't want to go all the way up. I guess ill be getting after that soon.

Window motor is an easy fix, the pucks are wasted, you can get them from parts store.
Check part numbers on the 02's make sure they are the right ones.
