Build Thread 1978 Fairmont. I bet somebody back home’s thinkin’…I wonder why he don’t write..?

The correct answer is buy the part Toyota Motor company recommend ….and pay.

My HID headlamp level sensor is common to the Lexus, Toyota and Mazda RX-8. Its the same part. But you pay 460 bucks for the Lexus part, and its perfect. or 62 bucks for the White Box item, and it may fail.

I bought two for my . One failed. The other had a ropey output. Don't cheap out. Toyota didn't.

The correct answer would be 4.6 4V... with a power adder. Would've bolted right in with either a stock or aftermarket 96-04 Mustang crossmember, would've looked gorgeous when done, and would've made insane power. That's what I'm shoving down ElSuperPinto's throat, and YOU'RE the one that inspired it.

Well that's like your opinion man, and it seems to be quite a bit off from what everyone else who has ever modified a 4.6 has to say.

It's kind of sad you can no longer walk into a parts store and walk out with a quality part the same day.

speaking of parts stores..... I walked into my local AZ for some dielectric grease today. They ask me what I need, and when I told him, I swear he had never heard of it. Looked up on his computer to find out what and where it was! And I’m pretty sure that was the guy running the place.

Just add boost. :spot:

But seriously, what are you smoking? The 4v performance community is vast and includes some guys in the 11s on the stock long-block running n/a with just air/fuel mods done to the engine. Add cars running turbos or blowers and there's a few deep into the single digits.

I was an Advance manager 15 years ago, and watched the decline. :poo: job does not even begin to explain it. It's like everything else, price became the driving sales factor. The consumers shopped on price, and that brought the industry down. I'm glad that you can at least order some quality parts.

It's sad. I've ordered a Motorcraft part a time or two from O'Reilly when I needed it fast and they could get it there the next morning. Other than that, it's all Rock Auto and eBay for me now.

Ford Motorcraft doesn't actually make many parts now; they assemble parts. It's all globalized. It takes a lot of experience to understand where the quality parts are coming from. Ford hasn't made a bearing or a seal since the Model-T. In that category you need to be looking for a National/Bower/BCA/Timken from Mexico, an NTN from Japan, or an SKF from Sweden. Just about everything else is going to be re boxed Chinese garbage.

Found that out the hard way this past spring when searching out Motorcraft parts.

Not being political about that subject, but I've been saying that for years just as everyone else has. Honestly, I think it's un-patriotic for CEOs to send things off shore to produce. I mean look what went on during the great wars. Our country produced everything we needed for our troops because we had the capability and the knowledge. Now those jobs are sent overseas which undermines our capabilities and knowledge and they expect secretaries, waitresses, and telemarketers to support the economy. So many of the blue collar trades were respected, but they're now looked down upon by some of these CEOs who think that anyone can do those jobs. If it were that easy, I'd like to see one of them come down from their golden tower and troubleshoot a progressive die that can't run beyond 12 strokes a minute before it mishi ts. (you'll have to take the space out since the AI thinks I'm being naughty using mi:poo:s...)

I just read that 3 times, and I don't know what you just said. Hopefully, the mods clean this up by tomorrow so that we don't lose anymore of useful information that Mike is sharing freely.

For all of the struggle to get this thing done on time for cruisin the coast, it all comes down to a few hours tomorrow. If after I replace the old Toyota crank position sensor with a new Toyota crank position sensor, and I do not have a perfect running car, ill have no choice but to cancel the whole thing to even have any prayer of getting the rooms refunded.

The sensor is due in at 9, I should have it in by noon. This whole freakin thing has come down to a 200.00 part.
