Hey guys. Any of you that are into other mechanical work besides our Foxbodies have a recommendation for a decent OBDii scanner? I already have a $30 one that will show me the codes, but I’m looking for something with more function. Maybe real time data, and more diagnostic ability.

If it’s a Ford, use Forscan and just buy a USB to obd2 interface connector.

That program will basically be as close as you’ll get to a Ford IDS as you’ll get. Downside is it’s Ford only

For other stuff, I actually use a oBD2 dongle and apps on my phone.

Yeah, I’m fighting a hesitation/ miss in my daughters ‘02 f150. Not throwing any codes yet. Only shows up at first acceleration, and then if your cruising along, and get on the gas a little. Other than that, runs smooth.
Ohm’d out all the coil packs, and they are all within spec. Checked across the connection as well as to where it connects to the the plug. Boots looked fine also, with no visible cracks.
Did the “stethoscope” check with a long screwdriver on the injectors, and they are all firing away. All sounded exactly the same.
I’m trying to take the diagnostic route before I start throwing more money at. The fuel tank was just changed out, along with a lot of the evap system hoses. Top of tank was rusted out. I just ordered a fuel filter just in case that got fouled up with everything that got changed. Hasn’t been done in a while, so I figured that was $20 well spent. We’ll see where that leads me.
