    Yes, it cycles frequently in defrost mode. It does this to dry the air without cooling it. There is no practical operating range where the a/c will not cycle. A/c light does not illuminate in defrost mode.

    I paid a little more attention this weekend, and I noticed the noise occurs as the gauges fall to zero after turning off the ignition. At least one of the gauges must be gear driven (or gear reduced) instead of using a typical electrical meter movement.

    One more time -- It's not anything fluid. If you have not heard it, stop with the heaters and hoses stuff. It sounds like an egg timer, or something wind-up that is winding down. I forgot to mention I have IUP. How about you, TicketMe & Dragon?

    I've been wondering about it, too. Definitely sounds mechanical (i.e. not coolant/refrigerant.) It seems to come from the odometer.

    Looks peaky to me -- like if you overlaid that curve on the stock curve, it wouldn't look much better until about 3000 rpm. OK for racing, though. It would probably be a monster with twin-screw supercharger. EDIT - I meant to ask if you use the variable valve timing, or is it disabled.

    It's pretty predictable in slippery conditions, even with TCS off. I'm with Red Pony, I can't comment on 94-03. I just know my 88 vert would turn loose without warning. I swapped ends a few times.

    A lot of people have found the inspection plate on the tranny to be loose (and missing 2 bolts, I think.) It usually rattles when the engine is cold and at idle, so it doesn't exactly match your symptoms; but I thought I would throw it out there.
