    Will 28x9x14 MT's fit on 65/66 Mustang's?

    the axles are not longer....the 31 spline posi has a bigger cross pin that pushes the axles out a bit. usually you need to add a single washer to each of the four caliper bracket mounting bolts between the flange and bracket.

    First thing sounds like a worn shifter assembly and if your adjustment and shifter is over shifting your trans then it can cause damaged to the shift rails, detents or sliders. best thing to do would get a new hurst shifter/linkage and carfully adjust the linkage and shift stops.
