    PI SWAP QUESTIONS???

With stock bore and stroke: 11cc dish gives 10.52CR, 17cc dish gives 9.66CR, 23cc dish gives 8.94CR according to Sean Hyland. This also assumes stock combustion chamber size of 42cc. Your stock pistons are the 11cc dish.

    Convertable road noise

The tires you run can make a big difference in noise. I checked on Tire Rack's site for noise ratings before I bought my new tires, it has helped.

    GT or Mach? w/

Mach's have powdered metal rods and hypereutectic cast pistons, not any stronger than a GT. The manual shift Mach's do have a forged crank though. I have seen a recomended limit of about 450hp before the pistons/rods give out.

Shipping my 05 GT from hawaii to california...

Long tube headers are a fail here in Colorado, California is probably the same.

02 GT at full Throttle issue?

I shift about the same speeds as you if the car is not pulling a load (like going up a hill) and I am being light on the gas peddle, like half throttle at most. I would delay shifting 3 to4 and 4 to 5 by 10mph or more under harder acceleration and I almost always downshift if I need to floor it...

A couple questions about a service I received from xpress lube today (Please help!)

My Haynes recomends MERCON automatic transmission fluid for the power steering. They also recomend changing diff. fluid at 60,000 miles. In my experience these lube places often try to sell you extra work that you really don't need.

They say it can't be done!

Aftermarket heads have just now become available. I think there is a waiting list to buy them still, don't know anybody who has them. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against CNC ported PI heads for sure. Good luck with your project!

They say it can't be done!

It can be done but it's not worth the money. There are many extra parts you need besides the heads and intake. Cobra's and Mach's use different pistons with less dish volume so your compression ratio would be too low. You will need new timing chains and front cover. You will need a new engine...

    Heater Core

If you wait too long your floor will start to get wet, had this happen to me. Better to replace that heater core now, too bad this stuff always happens in the winter.

02 GT at full Throttle issue?

It surely sounds like a detonation issue. Putting a heavy load on the engine by trying to accelerate in too high of a gear on low octane gas is a classic trigger for detonation. Get some Premium gas in it ASAP, should fix it but your driving style is also a contributor. Go easy on it for now...

Effective/cheap mods to increase hp for cars?

Won't help horsepower but get some good tires. The stock ones on my GT were like banana peels trying to get off the line. They will help you stop better too.

So I drove my car in the snow...

Blizzaks on my stock wheels for winter, performance tires on cool wheels for summer works great for me. Much cheaper and easier to store than a second car. +1 turn traction control off or it will fight against you too much.

    2000 Cobra R balancer upgrade

I ordered some "bargain" UDP's on sale. Not much of a bargain as due to concerns about the shattered oil pump gear issue they are still sitting in a box out in the shed. If I could have a do-over I would have spent the extra money on Steeda pulleys or just not bothered. Still if you can do a few...

    Raining Hard and Traction control?

I like it on for rain, off the rest of the time. Wish the default setting was "off" when you start the car.

    Ideas to start with

Do you have emissions testing? If you do be careful with bolt on parts, most won't pass a visual exam. Gears are a great place to start.

Comp Thumper cams - California emmisions

Those cams have too much overlap to pass emissions. Don't know about CA but here in Colorado all cars have to pass emissions when they change ownership and the seller is responsible to pay for any repairs needed to pass.
