Need Advice on Tires Can't find Right Size

 91stanglx - the nitto 245's will work great. FWIW most guys with pony rims run 245/50/16 as stock replacement.

when i read this line i immediately thought "detonation". check your timing, and all ignition components. more details are always helpful if you can provide any. -steve

How much of a weight loss? What will I gain?

don't forget about the extra hp sauce you free'd up by ditching the ps pump. :nice: -steve

255/55's on the back of a stock 88 LX ?

it won't rub.......but you're wasting your time with those tires IMHO. anything bigger than 245/50/16 is not going to have a flat contact patch so the added width is actually hurting you. JMHO -steve

    piston clean up

acetone/paint thinner should work wonders. if you want something a little milder carb cleaner should also work. OR, you could have the pistons/rods hot-tanked :nice: -steve

    Stock 5.0L headers?

i thought the same thing when looking at the stockers. i mean, how much could those pinched pipes possibly flow? then i read an article which stated the stock headers actually flow more than enough for the stock combo and that the average header swap, while it may increase peak hp will reduce...

    pro 5.0 problems

agreed, however if the front 2 shifter base-plate bolts aren't tight you definitely need to do that. once everything is done right i think you'll love your pro5.0 -steve

    Stock 5.0L headers?

ditto... boss 351 - FYI stock headers are good to around 300hp, after that they'll become a real restriction. most stock combos will give up performance by swapping in aftermarket headers. -steve

Difference between 87 GT Cobra and 87 GT?

yep, good old Canadiaville. We threw some cobra stickers above the 5.0 badge for good measure as well. IIRC some also said cobra instead of gt on the hood. -steve

    will this combo run 13's

if you mean drag radial its possible. if you mean decent street radials it's a lot tougher and will likely come down to your driving skills. -steve 25thmustang - wasn't your run with slicks though? guessing et's isn't my forte so i'm trying to learn ;)

POLL: What Gears for restomod project?

well, given its a daily driver with minimal strip duty and lots of power..... go with the 3.55s. 3.73s with that power and street tires is too much IMHO given your intended usage. -steve

    Can I put a T45 in my 5.0?

i don't have any facts to back it up but, it's been told to me that the t45 isn't any stronger than the t5. couple that with the added cost to mate it to a 302 and you might as well sell the t45 for a t5 or better. JMHO. -steve

    Where to mount 4th gauge?

that one could easily go down by the stereo or something as it is not as important as the "unknown" guage. i'd probably mount it right in front of the stock voltmeter though. :nice: now, what's really got my noodle going is all this secrecy on the guage types........ -steve

    will 4.6 o2 senors work on a 89?

cross-reference the part #. or put it up here so someone else can. -steve

    Where to mount 4th gauge?

can you swap it for a "less important" pillar guage? ie. maybe you have an oil pressure guage you can mount in front of the stock one and you can put the new guage in the pillar. just a suggestion -steve

    Can I put a T45 in my 5.0?

you're wrong ;). the swap can be done but it's not common as the t45 is a POS. IMHO you'd be better off finding a t5 for the swap. also, IIRC the t45 has an integral bellhousing so you actually need an adapter plate or something. if you do a search it's been discussed before. -steve
