    Which Muffler Whould You Pick?

Get the shortest glasspacks you can find (2.5 inch) then some welded 2.5 inch turbo mufflers. No drone and great sound and flow.

Best auto tranny for mild 351

Depending on available cash you could get a gear vendors OD unit. I'm not a fan of the AOD as first gear is too high for my liking. But figure in the cost of the gear vendors unit you could possibly get a lower 1st gear for the AOD for less.

    Crush nuts for PS swap

It seems like you may need and impact wrench to properly crush the nuts (no pun intended). I tried using a ratchet and they were snug at best. I wound up getting the bracket welded.

    Engine What Cam? 289

I think its the carb. The autolite carb is a good carb, but not a true performance carb, . I've fiddles w/ Edelbrocks, Carters (same), Rochesters (2Jet), Webers, and Holleys, I like Holley's the best. I have a performer RPM cam, I like it, but I wish I had lower gears than 3.00:1. Maybe even a...

    Blown Head Gasket.

I knew the heads were 351W when I put them on... D0OE, pocket porting on the intake, silicon bronze valve guides and a full port job on the exhaust. Yours truly in his early twenties thought he knew a thing or two and bell mouthed the intake ports where they mate to the intake. :bang: Back then...

    Blown Head Gasket.

The block is a 72, the head-bolts came w/ it. The heads are a 70. I'm wondering if I need to get those special wasers that allow the 7/16 bolt to fit the 1/2 hole tighter. I didn't use them be fore and the head gasket lasted 20yrs but not a constant 20 yrs of use. More like I would have to get...

Performer Rpm Vs Rpm Air Gap Opinions?

Are your heat risers blocked off? If not that may be a cheaper alternative than buying a new intake. I tried that and it seems to work. I'm not runnin A/C yet. Thats another project!

    Blown Head Gasket.

I really didn't thin it would make much of a difference, but I thought I'd ask just because technologys has improved over the years.

    Blown Head Gasket.

Yeah, I've always been a Fel-Pro fan. I saw some Fel-Pro gaskets around $15 then $20, $40, and $100. I'm just womderin' about the differenc 'tween the cheaper ones and how they would hold up over time. I don't remember what I put on back twentuy years ago when I built the engine. I'm runnin...

    Blown Head Gasket.

I'm gonna replace my head gaskets but my budget is a little tight, so what would be best for the money. I've seen them as low a fifteen bucks each to forty and much more. Unfortunenatly there's not detail on the different gaskets. Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2

Pondering 351 Heads For My 289

I built a 302 for my Falcon back in the early 90s, The car came with the D0OE heads That had been ported. If the car didn't have 'em I would gone aftermarket. If ya got a set run 'em if not try to find some good used aftermarket heads. I prefer iron because they don't warp if your engine overheats.

Roller Rockers For The Street, Are They Really Worth It?

Yep! Thats the cam, and yes I added all the goodies to the valve train. Yes a 3.50 gear is marginal but better than a 3.00 but a 3.00 traction lok is better than a single track 3.50. I7d rather have a 3.80, but then overdrive etc. It never ends!!!!

Roller Rockers For The Street, Are They Really Worth It?

I've been wondering if I should switch out to roller rockers. Advertised lift and duration on the cam (hydraulic cam) are; intake .496 290* exhaust .520 300*. Is it worth the expense

    roller rocker arms

The easiest is to remove all the plugs and get a switch that connects to the solenoid w/ clips and bump the engine over little by little and bring each cylinder to TDC. You can stick your finger in the plug hole as you are cranking the engine(bump it though) when you hear the air rush out you...

Part Number For 351w D0oe Intake Gaskets

1250 is it! I got 'em! Thanks. I need the block off plates to keep the carb from percolating in the Texas heat.

    Power Steering Pump Puking...

Are you running headers? If so do you have the drop down bracket so the slave cylinder doesn't touch the headers. My dad had the same trouble and used a cooler to no avail. After The car was passed on to me I went to put on some headers and noticed that my dad had the stock drop bracket and the...

Summit And Other Performer Rpm Air Gap Intake "knock Offs"

I actually have the Performer RPM i got it when they first came out. I was lookin at the air gap (or a knock of due to prices) because the carb likes to percolate in the Texas heat. I migt try blocking off th heat risers first though. That is a cheaper alternative.
