Sounds like it is starving under a load, take the fuel line off the carb and check the flow before the filter and after the filter by having someone turn the engine over with the fuel line pointed into a gas can. Even a clean filter installed backwards will cause this problem.
Figured it out
I finally figured out the fuel issue that I have been having. The carb was not getting gas. I checked the fuel pump and it was fine. I cked the fuel line past the filter that was clean and it stopped flowing - the fuel filter was on backwards. It only flows one way.

I still have a similar issue going on with mine, I am checking the fuel lines to make sure they are not near the headers. I am checking for vapor lock, I am checking the sending unit. I have already adjusted the floats in the carb, made sure my gas cap was vented and checked the electrical...
What do you mean that you will need to switch out the brake pedal to a Manual version??
You can use the same clutch brake pedal support if you are not switching to factory power brakes. If you are swithcing to factory power brakes you will need to purchase a new power brake pedal as well and...
yes, the filter can clog completely and kill the engine. It is worth it to clean out the tank. Mine was full of newspapers, rocks, and papertowels when I purhcased the car 6 years ago. Drain the tank clean it out and blow your fileters out.
I got everything from CJ Pony parts. You cant beat the prices. When I opened the package my windowlace came in, there were two small strips not one continuous strip. I did not want to piece it all together and I called CJ's and they simply sent out a new package - no problem. If I have a...
I would do it with the engine in the car for the simple fact that you can more easily/accurately check for any ground clearace issues. I purhcased your basic square tubing type and had a good welder install them for me. He tied them into the rear floorboards and did an excellent job. He made...
This is why I take the neg terminal off first.
Have you ever welded a wrench to your radiator support loosening or tigtening the positive battery terminal??
This happens when you take a wrench to tighten the terminal and you touch the radiator support and it will ground out and scare the...
Now I really need help
So the wife's car died today with what I am thinking is a bad alternator and we are now sharing just my truck. It would be great if we could figure out this problem with the mustang so I can drive it while I figure out the minivan's issues.
I checked all the plug...
Your question is confusing.
To correctly remove the wing window you will have to take out the quarter window assembly becasue I am sure once it is out you will want to replace the window gasket.
What are the specs on your cam? You may be creating a bog monster like I did when I started with a 750. It was a bog on the line but a bat out of hell on the highway.
Still no go
The gas cap is vented so I now think it just will not perform under a load. I drove uphill without the cap and it did the same thing.
The sending unit is less than a year old and before I stopped driving the car to paint it, there were no issues.
I can leave my neighborhood...
Still having the same issue, the car will not drive uphill. I took the top off the edelbrock carb and the floats were in spec. I cleaned the fuel fliter. The fuel pump is fine. It runs great on flat ground.
Basically when going uphill it starts to starve for gas and will die unless I...
