    Another Code: P0153

+1 Sounds like you've got longtubes. I have the same codes, its from the o2's not getting hot enough since they were relocated much farther way from the cylinder head. It also cause my car to run pretty rich 10.5:1 IIRC. Got it tuned out, and CEL turned off, but the code is still there and...

Align honing is when they hone the mains in the block, the end result is the crank moving upwards. This is normally done if the block has a spun main bearing. You cant take the alignment dowels out once you torque the clutch on. They are supposed to be there and stay there. If you didnt see...

    Vibration around 1400 rpms

You need the dowels on the flywheel, but you also need the dowels that are in the back of the block that align the bellhousing-which are most likely there. They are what aligns the tranny with the block. As far as the crankshaft/input shaft misalignment, that usually happens after someone align...

    LOUD engine noise

Ive seen people replace an intake manifold, and get water in a cylinder that had the intake valve open. Then when they tried to crank it, it hit the water on the next compression stroke. Luckily in that situation the motor didnt fire over and make things worse, the water just stopped the...

    Vibration around 1400 rpms

What flywheel did you use? To check its balance, it has to come out of the car. You can ask your local machine shop who they send their balancing work out to if they dont do it in house. Or it might just be cheaper to go buy a new flywheel.

    Vibration around 1400 rpms

When he resurfaced it the first time, there was a low spot. It took .012 to get it flat. Where that metal went in the low spot I dont know(or maybe it was still there accounting for the the imbalance). But they did have to drill it similar to the way they drill a crank, two good sized dimples...

    Vibration around 1400 rpms

I replaced my clutch recently, and got a pretty bad vibration (side to side). It was pretty bad between 1k-2k rpm. If you opened the door you could see it jumping up and down. I had put in a new King Cobra clutch and had my centerforce billet steel flywheel resurfaced. It vibrated from the...

mid-lengths vs long tubes, any advantages?

Save yourself a lot of trouble when it comes time to do clutch/tranny work and get midlengths. The slight difference powerwise between the two (maybe 2-3hp) wont be worth the trouble when it comes time to change the clutch, TOB etc etc.

    QUICK HP QUESTION?

If you just want a newer bodystyle, Id go with a 94-95. I see them all the time in clean condition for ~$5k. Personally, I wont own another 4.6 2v, and especially not a 96-98 NPI motor. Parts are expensive and limited, and you dont get back much return for what you put in unless its forced...

which throwout bearing to use...spec or ford?

Get the clutch to engage about 3 inch off the floor. The TOB is "supposed" to spin all the time. From what Ive read its designed to ride against the clutch, infact its supposed to have some preload on the pressure plate. You really cant set it to where it stops spinning completely unless you set...
