    Squeaking front suspension won't compress

    I would think that your lower control arm bolts were torqued with the suspension unloaded. Try loosening the control arm pivot bolts then jack up that side of the suspension and torque the pivot bolts with the suspension fully compressed..

    Idle Problem

    Yes if you think you have a vac leak, spray the suspect area with starter fluid. If you do have a leak the fluid will get sucked in and the engine will rev up. Did you look at your PM?

    The Mustang drive train does have a lot of "normal" slop in it. Yours sounds excessive and you might want to check you backlash.

    Refilling Steering rack and Pump

    You only have to turn it by hand until the system will not except all of the fluid in the reservoir. At this point when you start it the reservoir does not empty and air fill the system. Now you let it run and slowly fill the reservoir till it stays full.
