    The closest match to the stock 5.8 lower would be the stock 5.0 h.o upper intake ,but if you look at the base, they bolt on differantly.

    intakes Here is a few pics I found, the first 2 are the 5.8 lower, the 3rd the gt40lower, last the 5.0 lower intake so you can see a comparison. The 5.8,5.0 is more oval but I said rectangular sorry.

    1 thing I'm not a fan of ,is the LS1 engine being you only see about half of it when you lift the hood of an F-body, and it looks even more cramped and harder to work on. At least in a mustang you can see the whole motor and it's easier to work on it seems.

    Wow those LS1's really got alot of potential. So they are pretty much held back by the stock cam? More impressive though was the 347 wasn't tuned and ran a 11.1 compared to the t/a's 11.71 tuned.

    You could retain smog, the efi 460's had smog (circled). So it could be made to pass emissions.

    I'd say go for it, the earlier 69-71 429/460 had more hp and torque. You could use the older heads (dove) say until you could buy some nice aluminum ones.     That last one is a steal ,and those dove heads weren't bad heads for their time either. I had it was a 70 or 71 429 that had those, but I ended up letting the motor and tranny go to a guy for 400.00,wish I had kept it now. He ended up using it for a mud truck.

The 90's ford trucks had efi 460's ,but I think the spyder intake would look cooler on one,which chp sales. Besides the Boss Mustang Ford built to show off, had a big block and it all fit...
