I believe you can temporarily disable it by pulling the speedo fuse... I would highly recommend you not do that though for obvious reasons

    87 Octane

Octane rating, is the resistance to burning of a particular fuel. The higher the compression in an engine, the more likely the fuel is to get hot enough to combust before the spark plug ignites. So in high compression engines, higher octane is needed to prevent detonation or knock, which can...

    2v heads to 3v heads on 4.6

It may be a little early to tell, but there are so many changes to the '05 block that I wouldn't be suprised if it would be cheaper to jusy buy a 3v engine. Kind of like the 2v to 4v swap, it's more than just bolting new heads on :( The variable valve timing could complicate matters too...

    87 Octane

you'll most likely lose a little power using high octane, the octane rating is only the fuel's resistance to ignition, which keeps it from detonating early. The only way you'd gain more power from higher octane gas is if the new 4.6 uses a knock sensor and adjusts timing accordingly.

Why change oil again after storage ?

I think the absolute best thing is to use synthetic and have it started and run for 10-15 minutes once every other week. If you can't do that, use synthetic unless you're replacing the oil before you drive it again.

    First Impressions: 3650 TSB Done

The '04s did not have the fix, the fix wasn't even released until the '04 was out of production. I'm hoping he was just mistaken and Ford hasn't actually told their mechanics this.

    How screwed am I?

The same problem plagued the 5.4 Lightning motor up until '01(?) Maybe if aftermarket heads are ever made for our engines they will address this problem, because you know... boost is your friend ;)

    First Impressions: 3650 TSB Done

I asked specifically about this one last time I was in, he said they either replace the vents or put foam tape in there to keep them from rattling. I decided I'd do it myself with cloth or some kind of felt.
