    Clutch recomendations for new block

FWIW I used a RAM PowerGrip in the Real Street car I ran last year and really liked it. It chattered a small amount but not terribly and held up all season with no problem. I would have ran it again this year if I were still running that car. It held great and seemed to have just enough slip...

I went 12.03 and then this happened... (BIG DUW!)

Paul, Pull the shortblock out and check things over. I've seen (multiple times) the wrist pins get tweaked on these motors when they are over-revved like your was. You'll know right away once they are out because the rod will not pivot freely on the pin/piston. The engine may turn over...

    Cobra cam and 1.7's

Stock GT cams will make more power than the Cobra cam will.

2.05 valve on twested wedge !!!

If that is the only reason you are looking to put the 2.05's in there than I wouldn't worry about it and just run the 2.02's. Minimal to no gain with the larger valves. You would be better off spending your money somewhere else.

    Dr. Gas?

I wouldn't clamp it...there are simply too many parts to it to trust doing so. Perhaps clamp it just to hold it before you tack it into place to pull down and weld up but that's all.

2.05 valve on twested wedge !!!

I would think you could use the stock seat but I don't see a need for a larger valve unless your trying to make BIG power. The larger valves may not even help make more power. Why are you looking to go with that valve?

bad news... well for me anyways.

You may be in a bigger rush than this but... A decent shop should be able to fix your heads and have them back to you in a week or two at the most. Give some shops a call and ask. Check your deck pretty well too...I've seen them warp a little between cylinders when this happens.

how much power with stock cam?

Traction is the real issue that I think may hold back any FS 5.0 cars not the power. On a slick I'd expect to be able to go high 11.4's if the power I'm expecting is there. On BFG DR's I'm hoping for 60's. Hey Tom, Impressive numbers for still using that H pipe. I know that an offroad...

HG....AGAIN!!! Which HG goes on backwards??

They can only go on one way if the "front" is facing forward.

how much power with stock cam?

No, that was with a 306. The most it made with a stock shortblock was 281rwhp but the heads were not prepped at that time.

how much power with stock cam?

LOL...thanks for the plug Joe! Unfortunately I only made 309 rwhp and 336 rwtq. The HP peak was at 5600 rpm. I hope to have that engine back together in a month or so and I'm looking to make 330 rwhp if all goes well:-) Tmoss now has those heads on his car and I'm pretty sure he went...

    Gear Installation Question

How to avoid breaking the ABS sensors when doing a gear swap... 1. NO NOT REMOVE THE SENSORS...DON'T EVEN TRY TO! 2. Locate an existing hole/slot in the tang ring and enlarge it with whatever method you have (grind, drill, cut, punch whatever) so that the hole is large enough to fit over...

HG....AGAIN!!! Which HG goes on backwards??

Actually they both go on with the "front" marking at the front of the motor. One of them goes on with the opposite facing to the block than the other does.

What do ya'll think of this motor combo

First----> Mike has made some true and well formed statements about your car. My Opinion-------> Anyone who builds a stock blocked 331/347 for use with a blower has waisted good money. You can break the stock block just as easily with a stock 302 assembly inside of it and a blower. What...

Is there a reason that you don't see too many electric water pumps???

I use the cheap azz Moroso kit. It was around $70 when I bought it and I never had an issue with it. The car stayed cool no matter how hot out it was or how much I abused the car. I don't put that many street miles on my car but it has never given me any issues.

    Those Using Cometics?

Great gaskets! The hold up extremely well, don't leak water and you can get away with reusing them if you are in a pinch. Yes, you can blow them but it's not easy to do! Be sure to check the directions as they spec out a certain finish for the heads and deck to work best.

    PMS unit with LM-1

I think you'll need the latest InterACQ software for the PMS to be able to hook the LM-1 to the PMS. It would hook up very similiar to how the UEGO 1000 does I'm sure but you would need to look around on the LM-1 for the right signal wires.

    GT-40P heads, stock cam & 1.7 rockers?

how hard is it to run a siamese block on the street?

It won't be a problem on the street with the right parts to keep it cool. A decent radiator should be all you really need but a decent oil cooler would help insure it to stay cool. I've seen a few guys with R blocks on the street and they have not had any issues. One of those guys moved to AZ...
