    aluminum driveshaft install

I like it so far in that it the annoying 60MPH vibration is now gone. Haven't noticed any increase in acceleration, but then again I wasn't expecting any.

    Beware urethane tranny mounts

The vibration was everywhere, pedal, wheel, seat..... It's gonna take a day or two to find all the things in the dash that rattled loose....

    Beware urethane tranny mounts

I had posted a few days ago about the wickid vibration I had after my clutch change. We were on the brink of putting a new flywheel in since that seemed like the only possibility. The vibration was there regardless of gear, stopped or moving, clutch in or out, and it got waors as RPM increased...

One of the local Ford dealers here sells alot of Ford Motorsport parts which is where I got mine. I know that V6mustangstuff.com has them too. Really good site to do business with.

    Vibration above 1800RPM?????

Okay, now the clutch is fine. It turns out the SPEC throw-out bearing was the problem. The problem I have now is a BAD vibration at 1800RPM and above. Doesn't matter what gear I'm in or if the clutch is engaged or disengaged. The car is also vibrating alot more at idle than it used to. Again the...

    aluminum driveshaft install

Oh yea, it is really easy to do the swap. The hardest part is getting the 4 bolts cracked loose. They use that red loctite at the factory which holds them VERY tight. Get your hands on a propane or butane torch and heat up the bolts. It should only take about 10-15 secs of heat on heat bolt to...

    aluminum driveshaft install

Yep, definetely check which tranny the driveshaft will work with. I just put one in my 98 and ended up having to reuse the stock yoke cuz I bought a GT driveshaft instead of the V6 driveshaft. Eay to do but it was an extra step I wasn't expecting.

    Spec clutch burning, vibrating

I just had the same problem with the SPEC stage 1. When starting from a dead stop in forward or reverse the car shuddered like you wouldn't beleive. I took it straight to the shop and had it pulled and the found a "hot spot" on the pressure plate and the flywheel in corresponding spots. Plus the...

    Bad clutch!!!!!

Okay, I just got back from the shop. After they put in the Ford Motorsport clutch, they drove it around the block and all seemed fine other than a slight vibration. So when I get there I start the car and afte about a minute the throwout bearing starts chattering like crazy. So, they put it back...

    Bad clutch!!!!!

Some of you know based on my posts that I changed my clutch last week. I put in a SPEC Stage 1. Once I was finished, I started the car up and noticed a pretty noticeable vibration in the car. When I drove it, the vibration got much worse, especially in 1st and 2nd. So, after the hellish time I...

Okay, I finished installing my SPEC stage 1 clutch along with a PRO5.0 shifter and a Steeda clutch quadrant. While driving it I have noticed the following. Please make comments if you think it's normal or abnormal. Thanks. 1. Clutch engages MUCH higher than the old one. Is this normal or is...

    Recalls?

How accurate is the info on that site? I knew about the recall on the parking brake for my 98, but I never got word on the speed control cable replacement. Could deinetely explain why my cruise control hasn't worked in 5 years.

    Tranny is out... Any recommendations?

Yep, the throwout bearing is what started all of this, the squeal was driving me nuts. It came with the SPEC clutch. As for the Flywheel, it only goes on one way, the bolt holes are staggered so you can't put it on wrong. Everything went back together late last night. Tranny wasn't as hard as I...

    What the hell is this?

Thats what some friends said they thought it was. When I mentioned it to the local Ford service dept, they told me there was no such dampener on Mustangs with manual trannys. Guy looked at me like I was nuts. Looks like there's an aluminum driveshaft in my future. Thanks.

    What the hell is this?

What purpose does this sleeve serve on the stock driveshaft? I don't see anything even close to it on the ford racing aluminum driveshaft. Has anyone else here had this thing break loose on them? The car only has 65K miles on it, and who knows how long its been hanging there like that.
