bigger mass air or bigger throttle body?

i'm going to go against the grain here and say you'll get more out of the maf. but there are pro's and con's to each for you. the stock maf is 55mm, stock t/b is 60mm. therefore if you swap the t/b out you're still drawing through that little 55mm maf. whereas if you swap the maf you're...

Short Block ...How much HP can it handle

i disagree with this statement. at a goal of 350rwhp he should have no problem whatsoever with the short-block. lots of people run boost/juice on cast parts. ****It's ALL in the tune*** if you tune on a dyno with a wideband 02, AND you tune it conservatively to cover environmental...

Southside Machine Control arms, torque box rippers?

SSM lca's are a drag lca. they'll will do more damage on a auto-x or d/d stang due to the side loading and body roll. if you're serious about cornering you'll want to go with lca's that incorporate a spherical bushing. these are great for drag and mild street duty though. -steve

    rough idle..

madonionrs - i'd be inclined to check your wires/rotor/dist cap to make sure they're in good shape. FWIW i replace my dist cap/rotor/wires/plugs all at the same time. stock gap os .054 but anything from .035-.054 should suffice. -steve

    2005 GT vs 2004 Mach 1

true, but you neglect the fact that those "american" teams are comprised of primarily canadian players..... something we can *almost* agree on. the exception being the toronto make me laughs. they are the most profitable team in the "N", they're just too cheap to use that $ to go...

    2005 GT vs 2004 Mach 1

/hockey mode on/ boo to you SVTJayC for stooping to his level :nonono:;) but, since you brought it up: montreal canadiens in '94- maybe you've heard of them, they're the ones that have the MOST cups. but let's face it, that's history. how about some current info, like what country...

Valve covers and 1:6:1 roller rockers

1.6 is the stock ratio so unless the rr's are a really beefy design i don't see any problems. -steve

    2 blowers?

in theory it would work, with the roots giving the low end and the centri giving the upper. the big issue would be tuning it, and as mentioned the design limitations (ie, can a roots blower handle pressure on the intake side.) there was an article by richard holdener in an old mm&ff issue...

lemme see your 85-86 with rims

almost every rim mfg co. will be able to supply rims that will fit, you just need to know what you want. saleen, steeda, weld, centerline, bogart, fms, enkei are just a few. -steve

lemme see your 85-86 with rims

changing to a bigger rim should NEVER affect your speedo etc. if it does you aren't performing the upgrade correctly. DO NOT go to a taller tire than stock or it will hurt your performance. it will INCREASE breaking distances as well as INCREASE your effective rear gear ratio (ie 2.73's will...

    friend has hot start problems

sounds like it's time for a new ECT (coolant temp sensor). his car doesn't know when it's already warm so it tries to go into cold start mode (rich). before changing anything you should pull the eec codes. -steve

Estimated 1/4 time and HP with this

lol, yah, probably low 13's with traction and decent driving. if you want more "educated" guesses you'll need to post a race weight, as well as flow #'s from the ported heads/intake. also what tranny are you running? -steve

    Autolite 24's or 25's Plugs???

if you're still running the thumper e7 heads i'd stick with the stock/stock replacement plugs. have you milled the heads at all? what's your c/r. i think the 24's are the stock type plug but i'm not sure. -steve

those who know use motocraft coppers. those who don't use motocraft coppers, don't know. if you like wasting money go ahead. but if you listen to the facts you'll realize that you're likely hurting performance running others, regardless of what the butt-o-meter tells you. -steve
