    jet chips

The original poster was talking about an 89 or 90 model 2.3. Those do have distributors from the factory. Coil packs didn't start until 91.

    MegaSquirt

I am running MS1 PCB3 on my twin turbo 351w.. Unfortunately I have not been able to spend hardly any time tuning the engine. School and then moving to take a job have made it very difficult to do anything on the car. :( Hopefully soon I'll be able to change that, though. Anyway, I have been...

    front tranny seal

Exactly.. just destroy the seal. Do whatever it takes to get it out, and pop the new one in.

    front tranny seal

Best I can tell from your pics, it looks like the seal presses into the bellhousing. If that's the case, just remove the bellhousing and knock it out from the back using a hammer and punch.

    front tranny seal

Yes, the pump seal is that front one.

    HELP!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like potentially an oil pump problem. Likely a clogged pickup screen. Do you have access to a real oil pressure gauge? If so, hook that up and see what's going on with your pressure.

Looking to buy a welder. Need Advice

Flux core totally sucks. Stay far away! Trying to weld with a flux core welder will ruin an otherwise good day. I have used a Miller Millermatic 175 and the Lincoln Electric equivalent (can't remember model name, but very similar ratings to the Miller). I was very impressed with the Miller...

Failed emissions - what should timing be N/A

Base timing with the SPOUT connector out should be 10 degrees. I believe that with the SPOUT connector in (computer controls timing now), timing goes to aroubd 24-26 degrees at idle. Can't remember exactly; it's been a long time since I've messed with a stock computer, but I know it's right in...

    methanol/water injection

Sweet.. I can't wait to my new engine tuned so I can start injecting water and cranking up the boost :)

    methanol/water injection

Oh yeah, loads of people are doing water/alky injection over on turboford.org. I was going to run it on my old 2.3, but I blew it up before I got around to installing it. I am hoping to install it soon on my new engine. So.. I have to ask.. was that 54hp gain printed on the box or verified on...

    motor problem

Couple points... You're not going to get very far with the stock computer. You need a turbocoupe ECM, VAM, and fuel injectors. You might be able to get it to run ok off boost, but when you are into boost, your timing and fuel will be way off. As long as you are content with a low power...

    C4 swap nearly done.

Doh! I normally come down 81 to 77 and I remember passing the signs for Luray.. but wouldn't you know, this time I am going 95 to 85 to Richmond to meet a budy for the super Chevy show on my way back home. That sucks, I'd love to come hang out for a bit. Maybe sometime fairly soon we can work...

    C4 swap nearly done.

Dunno.. just finished building it in the middle of March. I've been in PA at the VW Academy, but that's over this Friday. I don't een have it tuned well enough to hit hardly any boost. When I get over 75 KPa on the MAP, it starts cutting out really hard. I have several things to check...

Taurus fan depth? Water pump rotation direction?

I guess it is possible the pump is slipping, but I have noticed it, and I haven't heard any abnormal noises from that area. I'll check it more carefully this weekend when I'm able to work on the car again.

Taurus fan depth? Water pump rotation direction?

Thanks for the links. I'll probably just have to go aftermarket on the fan. Those intercoolers are awesome, but quite a bit out my budget for this car. I had looked at air to water intercoolers, but I'm not sure how well that would work for me on the street. I tried before to get a mechanical...

Taurus fan depth? Water pump rotation direction?

I installed it like that because of the way the inlet and outlets on the end tanks were shaped. Now that I have a TIG welder, I can change it however I want. I'm thinking over my intercooler options. I need one that's pretty decent and can flow a crapload of air, but also physically smaller than...

    C4 swap nearly done.

When you are used to working flat rate, haulin' arse at almost any cost is the mentality. I'm starting out as a VW tech.. not on flat rate to begin with, but I have been before.. it's crazy. Good luck with your project. Haven't driven my Stang very much yet with the C4 much, but so far, man...

Taurus fan depth? Water pump rotation direction?

I'm not sure if I can trim it far enough. I'll just have to go to a yard and get a visual for myself. Luckily the local pull apart has no shortage of 3.8 Taurus's. I might have to break down and pay for an aftermarket setup, but we'll see. Thanks.. I have a lot of tuning in front of me to...
