new 351C Eddy heads are coming

Hmm, "We didn't forget about the Clevor fans either, as the #61629 is also equipped with a deck plug kit for those wanting to retrofit these heads onto the 351W blocks. " That wouldn't make all that much sense unless... Could it be a readily available intake manifold as well?

    Detroit Locker/T-Lock

A limited slip would be sufficent IMHO. The Tru Trac is a gear type limited slip and won't wear clutches. I also wouldn't be afraid to run a Detroit Locker on the street. You can get it as a "Soft Locker" (in fact they may all be soft lockers now) to cut down on the noise.

    Sig Erson

Erson is definately owned by MR Gasket. Can't speak for the small block stuff, but their FE rockers are the only full roller set up available for less than a grand. I've had several sets of FRPP/SVO/FMS rocker arms and agree thay are excellent parts. Crane makes nice rocker aarms as well.

Any idea what eng. this is ????

Oh, btw: Looks like the cheapest distributor Summit has is a Mallory Dual Point @ 139.95 and the most expensive is An MSD RTR @ 353.88. a unilite is 213.88 without Vac an 225.95 with, so definately consider that.

Any idea what eng. this is ????

I'd look for any stickers, numbers or tags and call MrGasket Tech (Mallory/Accell) and see if they can tell what it is. It might be possible to convert it to a unilite.

Any idea what eng. this is ????

That looks like an aftermarket distributor. (NO vacuum advance, short cap) Cap looks Accel or Malloryish. Better look for some numbers or product identification.

    390 dilemma

    390 dilemma

I do not really think those are stock springs and retainers. That is normally a failure seen when running reasonably high spring pressures. At any rate, the fix is any rocker set up that incorporates end stands. Erson is a good example that includes needle-bearing fulcrums. To wit:

    powdercoating?

I always get it from www.por15.com I think it would be atleast as durable as powdercoating in that particular application.
  11. PoliceInterceptor

    powdercoating?

Powder coating will work, but its somewhat brittle and the parts you are talking about apart form the dustsheilds, have alot of areas (ball joint holes, threads, spindle areas, caliper contact surfaces) that you wouldn't want to have powder coat on or in. Por 15 might be easier / cheaper...

Whats the torque for valve cover bolts?

It is more forgiving for sure, I don't know that I'd "CRANK" them down, but it'll take more torque and probably be more tolerant of retorquing.

Whats the torque for valve cover bolts?

Depends on the gasket material, 5-8 is definately in the ball park with cork. If you get cork too tight, or tighten it after it has some age on it, it tends to squeeze out and crack.

Progress Pics and a few questions.

Keep in mind that I do not think I have ever even seen the engine mount set up for a 69 351W, but: Looking at the picture in "Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973 Restoration Guide" by Tom Corcoran & Earl Davis. It shows a rubber insulator that bolts to the engine, then a mount, which bolts to the...

    390 build-up ?'s

I'm running a Crower Solid Roller (16462) with .581/583 and it had plenty of room, but it is on a 110 and the .050 numbers are a bit shorter than that Comp. I suspect it will be fine, but as always CHECK IT!!! :D

Progress Pics and a few questions.

I'm not sure of the spec on a Small Block, but bring it up to final spec in steps, and using a cross (star) pattern similar to a wheel. So if the spec is 90 (a totally fictional number) go 30-60-90. start at "12" then "6", "2", "8", "4". "10"...

    390 build-up ?'s

Speed Pro figures the compression with Fel Pro head gaskets. (~10cc) They also spec the piston valve relief at 10cc and mine worked out to more like 7cc. (This seems to be normal) my block was zero decked, and the heads were cut to clean up. (I do not know how much, but they were cut equally.) I...

    390 build-up ?'s

The speed pros will get you about 10.6 (or in my case exactly 10.6) after the block and heads are cleaned up. Also most aftermarket valves usually do not have the same volume as stock thus lowering the head cc. My C8AE-H ended up at 66cc after Stainless CobraJet valves and a clean up surface...

    Peg leg to posi.

Are we talking about an 8" or a 9"? I would stay away from a Spool or Welded spider gears for a street car. It WILL make for strange handling. Look at http://www.tractech.com/Products.htm for a lot of good information. For a Street car a Detroit Truetrac is an excellent choice, it is a...

    Dyno Woes

Mustang Dynos typically give lower readings than DynoJets. While numbers really can't even be acurately compared to other cars on the same dyno, you certainly can't draw any conclusions by making comparisons between readings obtained on a Mustang, Superflow, or DynoJet.
