What to do: Keep car from gettin stolen.

You guys seen that commercial where the car cover looks like a rusty primered Citation? It is a great idea.

    any experience with indy mustang?

He's either a Troll, in wich case: Don't feed the TROLL or He' already decided to buy the motor and is just looking for affirmation. In either case he's just wasting our time.

    any experience with indy mustang?

The reason you can't get a 300 rwhp motor anywhere else for $1500.00 is that you can't build a 300 rwhp motor for $1500.00. Just one mans humble opinion.

    rhino lining in my trunk?

I can show you a 2500HD Cummins Turbo diesel with a grey line-x that has been covered with tonnue (sp?) cover its entire short life. Rhino will tint theirs, not sure how it holds up. Also SEM makes a user tintable and sprayable one. FWIW

    rhino lining in my trunk?

Por 15 trunk kit is probably a better plan. Spray on liner is heavy and expensive. I've not seen one that doesn't tend to fade either.

    Question of Morality

Snail50, I'd probably keep them around if they are in useable condition. They won't bring much to sell, and you never know what an original 67 coupe might be worth down the road. I'm a bit of a packrat though.

    Question of Morality

I agree, If you don't do this, absolutely don't modify any of the original parts, and save them all. While a 351 Mach isn't particularly rare, it is still a collectable and if its other wise nice grinding on the OEM heads could be a several thousand dollar mistake. JMHO

SBC vs SBF Windsor design comparison, pros? cons? of each

Actually compression ratios are on the rise, mainly due to better combustion chamber design. There are production cars out there with 11.0:1 (Audi for instance) and bikes out there pushing 13.0:1, even that off brand stuff is pusing 10.5:1 with its reduced head bolt number (CTS-V - GTO).

    Dumb question...torque converter

True, this is why I said: :D In reality, there is usually something on the order of 3% slip at full drive depending on design. In addition, stall speed is not a solid number, it depends on car weight, gearing, engine torque (at stall speed) the phase of the moon, and the month in the...

    Dumb question...torque converter

Well, yes and no. When people talk of a stall converter they mean an aftermarket torque converter with a higher than stock stall speed. Stall speed is (in over simplified terms) when the converter essentially locks. When you put a larger cam in an automatic car, you need a higher stall...

Do I need new valve retainers and stem locks?

I'd do locks and retainers too. Depending on the springs, the specified retainers may have additional steps to properly locate an inner spring or dampner. Also If you have rotators, you have to ditch them (which replacing the retainers will do) You start putting extra stress on 35 year old...

    Installing my 408W

Intake manifold vacuum. It is picked up at various places, some big blocks have a hollow carb stud, and lots of stuff has a nipple in the back of the manifold. Holley carbs usually have a tap in the base plate as well. For instance in this photo the nipples pointed to on c8oz-9a474-b...

    Installing my 408W

Hook it to manifold vac. Use a metal line with short rubber connector hoses NOT rubber all the way. You shoyld be able to pick up a repo steel line from any of the mustang suppliers.

    fender rolling

And it looks like you took a cutoff wheel to the lip. :nonono: Plus, it leaves a bare metal edge that then will have to be treated, and you'll have metal shavings and cutoff wheel crap all over you, (and the car probably) your sweetie won't want to shower with you when you are rusting.AND...

SBC vs SBF Windsor design comparison, pros? cons? of each

I actually like Q-Jets. Ford used them on some 429's in the ~71-73 year ranges.. :D
