    1984 Mustang Rear Shocks

Yup, the shorter longitudinal shock in the top of your photo is a quad shock. The stock rear suspension was kinda soft for comfort, but that softness let the axle move around too much and created wheel hop. The quad shock was supposed to slow down that extra movement to reduce that wheel hop...

Damn, sir. Your 'just sprayed on' paint looks better than some people's sanded and polished surfaces.

After some research and a lot of procrastination, I figured out why I was getting orange peel. I'll tell you what I learned, but I'm sure you're more interested in pictures. Try to ignore the ugly idiot holding the phone. Note the reflector indent on the right. Not. Bad. But lost...

ABS code 63 on 1994 mustang

I see you've posted on Reddit as well as here. If you're still having trouble, try this. The pins in the electrical connectors can oxidize and add a bit of extra resistance to the circuits. When you unplug a connector then plug it back in, the pins don't always line up the same way and now...

Progress Thread 95 2-Top Cobra Build Thread- Never ending

The click when cranking is what I heard on my old 95 GT when it wouldn't start. However, in my case it wouldn't start when warm but would when the engine cooled off enough. Tuned out to be simple corrosion under the distributor cap, and a new cap & rotor fixed it. I tried out those little...

    Level lifted off ground?

The car doesn't need to be perfectly level. You can just eyeball it and get close enough. Just don't jack up one end of the car and say it's good. That definitely won't be level.

Are lowering springs easier to install?

Huh. Never thought of using half a dozen large nuts as spacers with that tool. Without them, the center bolt his the k-member long before it compresses the springs. Nice workaround.

You could try a pair of camber bolts. They replace the top bolt on the strut in the front, and allow you to add or subtract camber as necessary. However, they only add or remove 1.25 to 1.75 degrees of camber, (depending on the brand) which isn't enough. Stock camber is around -0.5 degrees...

    kmember and front suspension question

Scrolled back in the thread to see the OTC spring compressor you were talking about...and I have the exact same spring compressor. It's the only one I could find that worked on my 94 Cobra clone to remove the stock springs. It's a good tool.

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted? Let's fix that. Painting time! Same drill - set up and fixed the painting booth, brought the bumper outside then washed it and dragged it inside the painting booth. This time, I was super careful to mix the paint right. I also bought a set...

Sanding progresses. The process is the same as smoothing the primer coat: sand with 120/240/320/P600 grit. The Dimension paint I'm using recommends P600 as the final sanding grit to avoid fish eyes, so I use P600. I switch the direction of sanding when I go 'up' in grit, so: 120 horizontal...

Engine 94 GT to Cobra conversion

As the Cobra computers are quite expensive, you might be better off getting a chip for your current computer that loads the Cobra tune. If you want to learn how to do your own tuning, I'd recommend buying a QuarterHorse from Moates.net. You can then load the J4J1 Cobra tune onto your current...

It turned out to be a bit too hot during the heat wave, so I pushed my painting until late afternoon Friday. But paint I did. And made a mistake when mixing my paint, I think - so I'll have to sand the bumper smooth and repaint. Ah well. Setup for paint went much like when I laid down...

Huh. I replaced my head unit with a tablet a while back, (https://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/thinking-about-replacing-the-stereo-head-unit-with-an-android-tablet.858009/) but I stuck with a smaller tablet that fits within the bezel. Problem now is I can't find a decent tablet that...

New 347 EFI stroker won’t idle

While factory 94-95 GT's have 19lb injectors and Cobras have 24's, they have the exact same Mass Air Meter. The Cobra tune compensates for the Mass Air Meter difference. So if OP is willing to get a chip and have the J4J1 tune burned on it, he may have better luck idling.

Finished fixing the bumper and sanded it all smooth. I can't see where the bumper was repaired, even if I get up close. The instructions with the top coat I'm using says to sand the primer with P400 or P600 for good adhesion; I used P600 to make sure all surface imperfections were gone. Note...

damaged door and fender, replacement options?

Just because the insurance company says your car is worth $XXXX doesn't mean it's true. I had two different insurance companies over the years try and tell me my Mustang wasn't worth fixing (I had a 94 V6 at the time). But their 'proof' was Mustangs with less options and cars in states where...

Still working on the Cobra bumper, but progress has been slow. I'm fixing one area on the bumper, but I can only do a bit of work before I have to wait a day for some epoxy to cure. When we last left off, I was letting the bumper sit for a while until the paint stopped outgassing. That took...

Paint and Body Chythar's 94 Cobra Clone Paint thread

At last, the weather warmed up here in SoCal so it was time to lay primer on the Cobra bumper. Even though one can theoretically paint all the way down to 55°, I don't feel comfortable until it hits at least 70°. Which it did last Friday here. But before primer, I had a lot to do. First off...
