    True enough. I did unplug the IAC to see if it had any effect, and the RPM's simply dropped until the engine died. Which sounds like exactly what one would expect with a surging idle. I'll go through the checklist and see what happens.

    Could just be the voltage regulator on the alternator. The metal brushes wear down and eventually won't make a good connection.

    Glad you figured it out; the instructions really aren't that clear. They make perfect sense AFTER you've figured it out of course. While I didn't have any such troubles, it would suck greatly if the tube got stuck inside the transmission. I imagine that's why the screw is there.

    If the fuel pressure regulator doesn't clear the MAF codes, gat a new MAF sensor as they can go bad. I tested mine by 'borrowing' an off-brand one from my local auto parts store. It fixed my poor running issue, so I bought a better one from rock Auto and returned the cheap one.
