    '66 cowl restoration

your lower looks about like mine did, difference being the car had sat under a pine tree for the last 8 years, the vents were full of pine straw, and the top was TRASH!!! my only option was to find a good replacement section and fab it in. i was lucky enough to find one in excellent condition...

chassis/ body mods, what works well

i have the competition engineering bolt in sub connectors, which are welded in, and i can say the were worth every penny i spent on them...there was a thread some time ago, attaching a lever to the core support, and measuring the body twist before and after installing a set of sub cons, pretty...

    Underhood Paint Questions

your hvlp gun should be fine for the basecoat, but automotive clear is much heavier than stain. you need about a 1.4 fluid tip, (this is for a conventional gun, i dont know what numbers would work for your hvlp) you could do a search for tip tools website, they do alot of hvlp guns for...

    Thoughts on K&N Air Filters

BUT... how many times do you have to wash one before it starts breaking down? i used them when we raced karts, washed them GENTLY each week, and they lasted two seasons, at least. when used other than in the dirt, and only washed when needed, i think they will live up to the million mile deal...

    Thoughts on K&N Air Filters

i have them on everything my family drives... the 07 fusion just got one, and as far as the hassle of waiting for one to dry before you oil it, i saved the perfectly good paper filter removed to install the k&n, which i swap out while it dries out. i also feel they outflow a paper filter,imho...

    VHT Chassis black Engine compartment

the krylon, which dries faster than crustoleum, is sold at k mart, home depot, most of the big box stores...as far as durablity. it has held up for three years under my hood, and as i have a 351 in my car with headers, the shock towers get pretty hot, with no signs of blistering...

    VHT Chassis black Engine compartment

i like krylon appliance epoxy... the more coats you apply, the deeper the shine you get. one coat over primer is semi gloss, two is a nice almost shine, and three coats gets you a nice shine that cleans up super easy, unlike most chassis black paints.

    Cowl Vent Repair

there would be nothing wrong with using a STRUCTURAL adhesive anywhere else, a cowl repair just isnt one of those places...and trust me guys, a properly glued panel wont "pop" off... key is to prepare the pieces to be joined the right way, adhesive on both pieces, clamp firmly, but not so...

    Rolling fenders

something to think about is the cheap dead blow hammers from harbor freight... you will most likely use one up rolling your fenderlips, but they tend not to damage the paint as much as a steelfaced hammer...

Guide coat for block sanding question

dont use rustoleum for the guide coat... it dries so slowly, you will need to let it sit for days before you can sand it. not that you are putting on enough to build a film, but you will clog more sandpaper than your wallet will allow. go with any cheap, rattle can enamel, or trim black.... look...
