    Newbie with a few ???

Turbo's have always been a popular choice....but expensive. Supercharging is a quick, easy way for a modest price to make good power. It's when you push the envelope that the pre 99 Cobra's pistons just can't take the extra power. I put down 514RWHP for 6 months, then detuned to 487RWHP for...

    sc'd 99's come in here

Not sure, but I'll bet with the pulley to spin it at 6.5 lbs of boost, it won't be loud at all.

    Any Cobras with kooks?

You are thinking of Mac headers....not BBK's.

    Newbie with a few ???

Cobra: 4.6 DOHC aluminum block. Lightning: 5.4 SOHC iron block (I believe, not sure). Also, all Lightning blocks have forged internals, where as the Cobra's didn't get forged until 03. I'm no expert on the Lightnings, but I know a lot about the Cobra's. :nice:

    Any Cobras with kooks?

If I was to do it again, yup, save yourself some money and go with the BBK's. I just was told by the shop that the other collect was seized on now. So now both collectors have been seized on and I'm not sure what they are going to do to bolt it all back up. WTF? Go with BBK's.

    450 HP N/A 01 cobra... LOL

Best ever was a show in early summer....guy had (are you ready?) duct tape all over the engine. Wrapped his spark plug wires and just about anything else you can imagine in duct tape. :rlaugh: So, someone asked him with a straight face what that was for.....he said it was for looks...

    Any Cobras with kooks?

I had them installed last April...got them in Jan or Feb. I believe they were all coated. Can't remember if the collectors were for sure or not. The guy at the shop (Alternative Auto) said they were nice, but for the money BBK's was a better bang for the buck LT. That's normally what he...

    Any Cobras with kooks?

Great fit and finish....no problems at all with them. Only problem is the collectors tend to rust on in no time....I had to remove the collector after 4 months to do a clutch replacement and had to beat it off.

IRS to Live Axel swap (99 Cobra)

Cost? No idea, can't remember. I'd have to pull out the invoices. If stang976 will swap with you, then you can upgrades parts as you need to...or can afford. That's your best bet. I want to say with all new parts the cost was somewhere around $2K.....like I said though, can't really...

IRS to Live Axel swap (99 Cobra)

Yup, try to swap first...if not, you can order from the Ford catalog. Get an 8.8 assembly, and then you will need new springs, shocks, catback, driveshaft, might as well put some better 31 spline axles and diff in there, get some 4.10 or 4.30 gears.....maybe some upper and lower control arms...

What do you guys think of these 20 inch rims/tire combo??

I noticed when I went from my 17x8 wheels to the 18x9.5 wheels that the ride got a little harsher from less side wall and the wider wheels like to follow grooves in the road a little more. They are also heavier...not that I feel the car is slower since I have the blower. I can only imagine...

What do you guys think of these 20 inch rims/tire combo??

www.gefracing.com Best prices I found for my Cobra R's. Oh, dont' go with 20's. The ride will suck, it will look like ass, it serves no purpose. Just lower the car and put on some 17x9 up front, and 17x10.5's out back.....or 18's if you want.

GAUGES - are they just for decoration or what?

Agreed. Just get the fuel and boost guages.

GAUGES - are they just for decoration or what?

Serious? I watch my fuel and boost guages at the track. No fuel=boom. The fuel pressure guage will let you know if there's a problem so hopefully you can shut it down before any damage happens. The boost guage lets me know if there's a problem such as a slipping belt. Not a must have...

    03 cobra vs fr500 debate

What's your intent....or how far do you want to go with the car/motor? That's a lot of work and some decent money for marginal power. If you are biulding up an n/a car and plan on porting/cams/higher compression...go for it. Otherwise, there's cheaper things you can do besides the heads...

    98 s/c or 03 cobra

It comes down to choice....tough decision huh? One additional comment: There's nothing like walking away from a cocky 03+ Cobra owner that thinks his newer Cobra will take my little ol' 99 :D :nice:

    Chrome 4v.....

Yup, do it yourself or have someone local do it for you....only option. There's one company that started selling just the spark plug covers that sit on the valve covers....polished for $250. What a joke. :notnice: Oh, and getting these off the engine if it's still in the car is, um...

    2001 cobra?

99 and 01's are both great cars. They take premium gas only. You should be able to find 99 Cobra's out there for around $15K with moderate mileage on them and in good shape. Not sure on the 01's, but I would guess around $18K or so (not sure).

That motor looks great. Wow....very nice. :nice: Sorry, can't help you with your question.
