    the reason why i think it was bent was that when the shaft was down in the hole, it was leaning toward one side. when the melling went in, and in the hole, it was straight up and down. so i went with the melling.

    actully, i had a guy come over, put it at TDC, install a Melling Shaft and the thing just dropped in! I guess that the ARP shaft is just bent a slight bit!

    ok guys, i am not sure what im going to do now. just for reference, does the pointy end go down or up? The FMS shaft doesnt have a star thing on it like the ARP one does.

    I am starting to get worried... i havent herd from him a few weeks, left a few messages. Usually he calls me back within a few days, but its been quite a while since i talked to him..... no answer at his house # or his cell. anyone?:shrug:

    would that matter for changing the dist? i marked where the rotor is supposed to point, so wouldnt that keep it all the same? i knwo i would have to readjust the timing though.....

    jason, i was also using the ARP one BEFORE the new dist install. if the stock one is only a few bucks, im gonna pick up one... i am really only testing to make sure that the dist is bad and thats why i dont have spark.

    ok, explain to me why i have to cut off 1/4" when the other one that came outof it is the exact same size? rubber mallet theory didnt work. i guess im cutting. edit: what if i just went to the parts store and got a stock replacement oil pump shaft? should it be shorter and i just use the dist...

    edit: bump method didnt work, but i check the length of the dist that im tryin vs the one that rick did for me.... same length. also, yes, it is an arp shaft too.

    ok, i am swapping dist to see if thats the reason that i have no spark. anyway, pointy end of the oil pump shaft is down, flat end up, dist goes down, but is up about 1/8"...... you can see the O ring. any tips? heres a pic--- hopefully it helps

    im swappin out that dist that john gave me saturday... i will know shortly after that when im good to go. i should be good for the 20th or 27th. PS: george: you talk like your gay. :nonono:

    oh well, i just bought a new pickup from the local auto parts store for like $16 (with my discount). do i need to pull the dist to swap it out?

    white:no i have not. i will check them in the morning. since i dont have a spare dist to try, guess that im gonna move on to the noid light setup. ill try to pick one of them up tommrow too.
