Fuel Injected engine in a 70?

Besides the ECU and wiring: - high pressure fuel system, stock tank modified with return or better yet a baffled tank. - Electric fan and related hardware/wiring. - Depending on the swap you may need some shifter boot parts and accessories - If swapping in a manual you'll probably want a...

    3G alt rebuild question

Let's try this over here, nobody in 5.0tech seems to know the answer. I'm hoping someone can tell me what the proper procedure is for removing the rear bearing on a 3G alt? I tried prying on it a little, but it wasn't moving and I'm worried I'll screw something up. Thanks! Check...

    Running too cool?

Sounds like a problem with the thermostat.

    Pully for 3G alt swap

Did you specify a make/model/year, or better yet do you know a part #? The NAPA guys in my neck of the woods are useless unless you know the part# or can tell them exactly what year and engine combo of the vehicle it came stock on. Thanks.

Did someone say pics? Can't wait to see how it turned out. :nice:

    Pully for 3G alt swap

Where did you guys get the v-groove pully from? My stock pully is the wrong size (shaft size is too small) and all of the 3G alts in the junk yard had a 6 or 8 rib pully. Thanks!

    Notching the shock towers

You do realize that he is plating them back up when done right? They will be just as strong after as they were before. Maybe stronger even.

    Inexpensive (relatively) radiator options?

If you're overheating while crusing in 5th on a 75 degree day, there's something else going on. Maybe a coolant passage/gasket problem after the HCI swap?

What temperature is considered over heating?

Agreed. So long as it's not boiling over, it's not overheating in my book. Engine may be running hotter than what you like, but isn't overheating until there's steam all over the place. 220-230 is when she'll boil over depending on the rad cap and coolant mixture being used.

70NE's custom EFI conversion writeup - Part 1

Yes, you can see it in a datalog.. sometimes. It shows up as RPM signal noise. The real clue is that the IAC starts to move to the "cranking" position, which means that for a split second the ECU thinks the engine isn't running. I've got a list of things to try. I may try scoping the...

70NE's custom EFI conversion writeup - Part 1

Not sure. EDIS has made things better, but there's still something going on there that makes me think it's a problem that's been dogging me all along. COP would be nice. Not a big advantage over something like EDIS unless you actually plan to adjust timing based on cylinder. However...

    The FAQ/write up/sticky compilation thread.

I think by topic would be best. There is so much tech that spans multiple years or there is only minor differences between years. T5 swap would be a good example. Maybe include the years applicable as part of a short description?

    The FAQ/write up/sticky compilation thread.

I think it's a great idea. We have a lot of great writeups on this site, and some of it is for commonly asked questions/projects. IE: T5 swap, Bigger wheels/tires, shelby drop, etc.... My suggestions: - Keep all of the links to a single post if possible. The following posts can be for...

    U-joints. Tight/loose/sloppy vibrations

The movement you describe on the front joint sounds like the U-joint cap isn't seated deeply enough. You may be able to fix that movement with a hammer and a couple of correctly sized sockets. I kinda doubt that it's causing any problem tho.

70NE's custom EFI conversion writeup - Part 1

Lol, yeah I tend to agree. The sensible choice is to do the brakes, but the power junkie inside wants a new transmission. I think I'll end up doing the brakes. But who knows, maybe I'll manage to blow up the T5 before the end of the season. It's already lasted much longer than I thought it...

70NE's custom EFI conversion writeup - Part 1

Been around Dustin, just not all that active. During the summer I tend to just drive the car and wait until winter to do any major work. As a result, I'm not on the boards much doing any research. Car has been doing great. No serious problems so far this year (knock on wood). But I'll...

Went to the strip today...Good & Bad news

So was that a shortened aerostar driveshaft? Looks too clean to be a used piece? If it was an aerostar shaft, it's nice to see that even in the 12's, it was the weld that let go instead of a twisted tube.
