70NE's custom EFI conversion writeup - Part 1

Awe, C'mon use the credit card. Think of it as "stimulating the economy" :p

HELP -c4 to t5 swap, starter interchange?

Don't know about C4 to T5, but when I did my FMX to T5 swap I was able to use the old starter with no problems. Probably the same starter.....

    Lower door hinge spring installation

What i've found that works even better is to use an engine hoist with a padded strap looped under the door. This way you can giggle and move the door a little without worrying about it falling down.

    Overloaded Starter Solenoid Post

I had a similar problem. An easy fix is to use 1 crimp connector for multiple wires. Take off all of the existing crimp connectors and replace with 1 larger connector.

Rear leaf spring eye bolt cannot be cut

I had the same problem. Even a good quality sawsall blade wouldn't hardly scratch the bolt/sleeve. I ended up using an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. Worked so well I was cursing myself for not trying sooner. If you don't own an angle grinder, now is a good time to buy one. Even a...

Is this a good idea for my 65 I6

It's a lot of money to sink into an engine that should probably be rebuilt from the ground up. I'd hate to see you throw $1500 into it, only to have a bearing let go next summer.

    Rear Axle Help!

Well, you need to figure out what rear axle you have. The 31 spline 9" is called the "Big Bearing" version. Unless you have a car that came with a big block, it's unlikely you have this axle. If you have a V8 engine, it's unlikely you have the 7 1/4 rear alxe. There's lots of pictures...

need help on brake bleeding issue...

You do not need to take it off to bench bleed. They make those kits for like $4 at the autoparts store. Basically, a couple of lines that run straight back into the resivoir. I always do this instead of on the bench as it's much cleaner and easier.

Rubbing doesn't really do this justice

I'm willing to bet that the other side doesn't have this problem. If that is the case, take your car into a GOOD alignment shop and explain your problem. They can move the wheel back 3/4". Your alignment won't be great (1 wheel is supposed to be ahead of the other) but it's not a big deal...

'94 dizzy and a msd box with carberator?

You cannot use the '94 distributor without a computer to control the timing. Sounds like you should be swapping to a duraspark distributor from a mid-80's engine.

Took the '67 289 Out for a Drive: New Battery Died

I think the smartest thing to do would be to test the charging system. I really doubt that it's a problem with the pully because it doesn't sound like the car was idleing all that long. It's easy to test if it's the pully that's causing problems, so I'd at least test before swapping pullies...

Crate Engine Builder wants me to go F.A.S.T. EFI over Mass-Flo . . .

Ahh, now I understand. I thought he was referring to the high-end FAST systems. I tend to agree, with you. I'd go MAss-Flo before the EZ-EFI if it was down to those 2 choices.

For those of you that tried the $50 paint job

Yup, that's what I ment. That site actually has a "1-year later update" and apparently the paint is holding up great. Thanks.

That's exactly what I mean. Thanks.

For those of you that tried the $50 paint job

How is it holding up? Most of what I've read, people are happy with the results immediately after the paint job... but i'm curious if they are still happy a year or 2 later. Anyone got some time/miles on a $50 paint job?

Dumb question - removing alt belt for dyno?

Like already mentioned. It's only a 2 or 3 HP gain. And again as mentioned... are you doing this for bragging rights, or to actually get an accurate measure of the HP you are producing?

Crate Engine Builder wants me to go F.A.S.T. EFI over Mass-Flo . . .

Sounds like you've got your mind made up, but I would also choose the FAST system. Not sure why you think FAST=TBI. You seem to have the impression that Mass flo means it's easy. That's not the case. True, a mechanic that knows EECIV is going to be able to work on a Mass-flo system...

    stumbly 351w please help

Sounds to me like classic symptoms of a problem with your accerator pump in the carb. I'd look iinto that. Might be time for a new diaphram, or to move up to a larger squirt.

:stupid: Yup, it's not possible to install with the unbalance in the wrong orientation.
