    Big Block vs. Small Block

Having driven both, I like them both... but see my screen name... :D Seriously though the major difference between a big block and a small block is how the power is developed. Look take a big block, like a 390 and a small block say 351w - and say they both generate 400 ft/lbs torque. The 390...

    Big Block vs. Small Block

'67 to '70 mustangs were available with FE series big blocks (not counting the Boss 429  ) What this means to you is that there are production parts to do the swap - no custom parts needed for the swap. To do the swap you will need at least an FE Engine (ie 390- 428 - or a 427 if you...

    what engine could it be?

If it is the stock, original drivetrain it will be a 351 Cleveland (remember... the '73 mustangs were still running clevelands). Could be either 2v or a 4v engine. '74 was the last year of the 'pure' Cleveland - after that it was the 351M/400-oh and the occasional 351w.

Whats the dumbest mod youve seen someone do to their car?

That's alright... years ago at Super Ford weekend at Maple Grove there was a 71 camaro that used to run - it had a 351c, a prostock hoodscoop with a big blue oval on it. Oh, and the car was pink! Dumbest 'mod' has to be either wheel flairs on the rear of a 70 nova (stuck out about 6...

New 1968 just added to my collection (dial up users beware)

Wow - very nicely optioned...- I really think that is THE first '68 I have seen with dog dish hubcaps and painted wheels... Is it a standard or deluxe interior? Either way that will be a nice show car/driver.

New 1968 just added to my collection (dial up users beware)

Nice looking car... It's nice to know there are some people out there who maintain their cars (unlike my cars P.O. s :nonono: ) Good luck with her... what is the option list like? - I see the power steering

428 WITH AOD, CAN IT BE DONE?

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. I'm suprised... I didn't think anyone would make an FE adaptor for the AOD- It was never designed to handle the massive low end torque output of a big block... I think I agree with DHearne...get an aftermarket overdrive to add to the C-6 -...

these guys on "Full Throttle" need some of us amatures to help em!!

Saw the 'full throttle' mustang show last night... I think the show set those guys up for a whammy - Who the heck 'accidentally' orders a big block C-6 instead of a small block c-4? mfp4073: - I agree... my first thought was "rear gears" - followed by "nos - on a pretty used up engine?"...

What does this door tag mean on a 69?

"...the truth is we all have to start somewhere..." Yeah... but that would be like learning to Drag Race in a 4 secnd rail car Yep, that would qualify as a limited production Mustang allright. Good resale value too.

Well the insurance verdict came in today....

My advice... (from someone who has had Several wrong place wrong time accidents) is to consult a lawyer... you will NOT get a fair shake from the other guy's insurance and they will NOT deal with you straight up. They are in the business to pay you as little as possible. PLEASE just consult a...

    1968 3 speed Manual

The A303 trans (which is the 3 spd Ford used on V-8 cars) IS the tranny the the Toploader 4 spd is derived from! As far as I know it is the ONLY Ford transmission to be used stock in some GM cars as well as Fords. (Yes this tranny was even used behind big blocks - so I think it can handle a...

Test drove a V6 this weekend...

    - That costs quite a bit more and works HARDER to generate similar #'s to a larger displacement engine.

    Need production numbers

One of 72,455 1969 Mach 1's. I'm sure someone can provide a more precise number on the specific drivetrain production figures.

I am trying to see the value here.........

Argh :D ... you are of course correct about the K code 289's... I should have prefaced it with "the only engines in the '69 and '70 mustangs..." I am unsure about the '71's Super Cobra Jet 429 - that WOULD be the type of engine that got a vin stamp...but I really don't know having never seen or...
