    restoring a 64 1/2 mustang k- code

I agree with StangDreamin, those mods are easily reversible so do as you please. I have a 64 1/2 K-code coupe myself, matching numbers and completely original but in need of a restoration, and I am probably going to do some minor mods as well. Probably an alternator, and Pertronix ignition...

    Summit MAF

I have been running a 75 mm Summitt MAF calibrated for 30 lbs injectors for the last two years - seems like a quality piece to me, no problems at all and excellent driveability. As Rick mentions I suppose its made by one of the big manufacturers and just re-badged - looks like a Pro M perhaps...

    HiPo 289 vs Boss 302

The Hi-Po/K-code carb is an Autolite 4100 unit with mechanical choke, and it flows 600 cfm. Ford used the Autolite 4100 carb on other models (it came in various sizes) but the K-code is the only one with a mechanical choke. Regarding the heads, the K-code heads had threaded rocker arm studs...

    Magnaflow Catback Fitment Issues

I bought a Magnaflow catted x-pipe and Magnaflow cat-back about five years ago - and it didnt fit at all. Ridiculous ground clearance, the downpipes were about 2 inches too narrow to match the headers, and the cat-back was a complete mess. Got to admit the mufflers are nice, but thats the only...

Where the name "Fox" came from?

Thats another thing I like about american cars, you give them names - even for the platforms - instead of boring, meaningless 3-digit numbers. :nice:

    5.0 theoretical top speed?

Ah, jrichker - my man! So say 268 mph at 6000 rpm with stock tires? Am I right? I suppose no one has tried that for real and survived.. What kind of power would be needed to achieve that - in theory?

    5.0 theoretical top speed?

You can torque the tach cable? I shall definitely try that tomorrow :D Apart from this good piece of advice I am not really getting any wiser  Come on

    5.0 theoretical top speed?

Here in Norway the highway speed limit is 100 km/h (roughtly 60 mph or so), and violators are likely to get stoned to death or jailed and fined so they will be impoverished for the rest of their miserable lifes. :( So, in that respect I am curious - what is the theoretical top speed for a bone...

    What size fuel pump?

According to Kenne Bell larger fuel pumps will heat up the gas and make it less efficient hence why they recommend their Boost-a-Pump kits. I am not running a Boost-a-pump myself, but the way they explained it made some sense so I decided to not go larger than 190 lph for my setup (see sig)...

    Good bye stang

I am a norwegian, and way back when I was a kid a Manta was considered, by those who didnt know better, a fairly hot car BECAUSE WE COULDN'T AFFORD anything like a Mustang! Get it? :nonono: Jeezus... why would anyone buy a Manta when you can pick and choose from an abundancy of rwd cars...

    Traction-Lok rebuild kit

Yay - job done!!! :nice: Got a friend to help me and did it today - it went fairly straightforward thanks to good advice and an excellent write-up from you guys. Couldn't have done it without you. However, getting that s-spring into where it should be was a royal pain in the a$$... We did...

    Which heads would you buy?

I don't get this - my understanding is that TFS heads with 2.02 valves will clear stock pistons (I am running those heads myself, no clearance problems) whereas RPM's or any other head with 2.02 valves will not clear stock pistons without notching? Why would you have less ptv problems with...

    Traction-Lok rebuild kit

    Traction-Lok rebuild kit

Thanks all, very helpful! :nice: jrichker, that looks like an excellent write-up - not sure if I'll do this by myself but I shall study it carefully. The pony boy - since you have tried both kits, is there any negative aspects using the cobra kit, apart from being bit more expensive?

    Traction-Lok rebuild kit

My diff is getting tired, and I noticed 5.0 Resto is offering this kit which says it will upgrade the stock Traction-Lok to 03-04 Cobra specs. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/M4700C/Mustang-88-Traction-Lok-Rebuild-Kit-with-Carbon-Discs Has anyone here tried this kit? How...

    bumpsteer on 1.5 drop?

Out of curiosity, how do you check bump steer? When I installed my Eibach pro-kit I just went with offset bushings in the steering rack. Maybe not the best solution but it seems to work fine.
