    throttle body..

Actually the stock TB on a 94-98 3.8L is pretty restrictive, and upgrading it will get you a couple more horses, particularly at the top end. I sure as hell wouldn't spend $300 on an aftermarket one. Just not worth it. I'd get headers or something else before that. However, you can polish...

My V8 crank & rods are done...

I'm workin on a V8 project on the side, to swap into the V6 in a summer or two. Got my crank magnafluxed and turned, and the rods are done too with ARP bolts. Rotating assembly is almost totally done, as soon as I order some pistons. :)

New Vortech SCT Dyno Tune results

Looks good for sure! That's way more in line with what a 7psi split port should do. Those numbers would give a GT a decent run. :nice: Still looks a bit on the rich side to me though. You're dipping under 11.5:1 through most of the high RPM band. I understand that maybe your tuner wants to...

Ridiculous traffic laws -- Fun Read

Funny how people think the Constitution gives them more freedoms than it actually does. It's illegal to drive w/out a valid insurance card. If yours was expired, that's illegal, plain and simple. But the cop didn't have a right to pull you over and ask to see it? Wrongo. A cop can pull over...

    h-pipe help

I don't have a sound file. But just think of or listen to the sound of an older car, something from the 60s that doesn't have cats. It'll sound just about exactly like that in terms of volume. The V6 will sound less 'burbly' and more 'smooth', though, which may be good or bad, depending on...

    h-pipe help

It'll be much louder without the cats. Not shake the walls loud, but the neighbors will know you're home... Also remember that you won't pass an e-test without cats, if that's relevant in whatever state you're in). Not cats will give better performance, and is lighter and cheaper, though...

    Wierd Question

As to your little misfire Gremlin .. no idea. Could be almost anything. Welcome to Ford quality. ;) The 3.8L is a solid engine. Not the smoothest, quietest piece out there, but it holds up pretty well. It will easily handle more than the stock horspower. There are folks running around...

    big miss or misses

Just to clarify... the plugs are in the head, with the wires connected to them, and the BOOTS are glowing blue and arcing to the block???! Slightly off topic... but I thought I read somewhere in a thread of yours that you had 2000 V6 heads with a 95 V6 intake bolted up? Tell me that ain't true...

    IAT sensor, what is it

Here's a general idea of how the code setting system works: When the failure condition exists (ie, if you IAT was shorted), the computer will set the code as a CURRENT code, and throw a check engine light. Now suppose that IAT short was intermittent, and the next time you turn the car on...

    Transmission

    It's a Tremec/Borg-Warner T-5 transmission (T-5OD to be exact, I believe). A 2004 GT would have a Tremec TR-3650.

    Advice on Thermactor system

Something's not right here. First off, a 2000 V6 shouldn't have a smog pump anymore. I didn't even think Cali cars had them, and if they don't, a MD car sure wouldn't. Second, I find it hard to believe that the pump, valve, and relay would ALL be bad ALL at once. Third, if, perhaps, the...

    V6 to V8 Conversion?

I didn't say you HAD to replace the front suspension. Physically it will fit fine. I said you'll probably WANT to, because once you load it with 200 extra pounds, the driving dynamic just won't be right. It'll work, yes, and it'll still go, but it won't drive right (bumps will probably hit...

    ECU Power Plug

Heh, you're beyond rich. You're using so much fuel that you're probably single handedly driving the gas prices through the roof. :)

    IAT sensor, what is it

Yes. It's in the crossover tube between the MAF and TB. Small little black connector, 2-wire. Sensor just slips into the rubber grommet. Just unclip the connector, and pull it out.

    ECU Power Plug

It won't do **** all, either way. It's the same IAT mod that's been out there for years. Slap a resistor in series with your IAT sensor, engine thinks the air is cooler, adds slightly more fuel. Has nothing to do with MAF. The only reason they say it won't work on newer MAF Mustangs is that...

    V6 to V8 Conversion?

It's way more complicated, and will cost you way more than you think it will. You'll have to rip into the frame some - new K-member to fit the V8. Your transmission will work, but your front suspension won't (you'll probably want new springs for the extra 200lbs you'll have up there with the...

is a bad idle air control motor causing this

    Damn. That's a hell of a backfire.

    IAT sensor, what is it

Oh, and if you happen to have a multimeter, here's 3 things you can do to test it: (1) Unplug the harness from the sensor. Set the multimeter to do a continuity check. Probe both terminals of the SENSOR (not the harness). If it reads as a short, the sensor is shorted and needs to be replaced...

    IAT sensor, what is it

IAT = Intake Air Temperature sensor. It tells your computer the temperature of the air entering the engine so that it can calculate the correct amount of fuel to deliver (colder air is denser, and requires more fuel). It's basically a negative temperature coefficient temperature resistor...

2007, the Mustang will have Competition, Camaro is Alive AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to remember that the reason the Mustang killed off the Camaro slowly over the last 10-15 years was that it's NOT just about who has the bigger engine. Sure the LT1s and LS1s walked on the Mustang's 302 and 4.6 from a performance perspective. The Camaro and Firebird were so damn fast...
