how do you justify buying a NEW car?

I buy cars and keep them forever. I'm 31 and I have only owned two cars. My first was a 66 Mustang that my dad bought new and the second is my 1996 GT. I still own them both. I would like a 2006 but my guess is that I'll hold out until 2007-8. The longer you keep your cars, the better car...

Something to considor while waiting for 05

I wonder what he hit. The damage is not so bad to make me think it was a high speed accident. I bet he rear ended a minivan on an off ramp. I would have loved to see the face of the person he hit. Could you imagine getting rear ended by that thing?

    Another MT ROAD TEST article?

MT only does previews. I don't think they have ever done a 'test'.

    No covertible until next February?

Because it takes a lot of work to introduce a new car. Once the coupe production is up to full speed the guys at Ford will have time to work on the vert. People on this board really don't appreicate how much work goes into building a car.

however.... If you get an automatic because you can't drive a manual, you will be missing out on one of life's great expericnes.

Is there a Ford Credit Card?

I had one years ago but they canceled the program. That must have been around 1997. I don't know if they have started it up again.

Dropping "Cobra" could be a good thing

I could not agree more. I always thought it was tacky for Ford to use the Cobra name on a Mustang. It makes as much sense as naming the top of the line Taurus the Taurus Mustang. Some of the Cobras have snakes on the side and the horse up front. When you drive around it looks...

Anybody heard about this? Mustang G-Premium for Japan?

A few years ago Ford had a Mustang website for Japan so I would assume they were selling them there. It does not look like they are selling them now. I think the Mexican Mustangs came with 16" wheels. Maybe that is the standard for export.

    Planning on upgrading

Yeah, I wonder how much more you will save by waiting. If you wait till the Fall the prices will be cheaper but the selection will be slimmer. There will probably ge some great deal out there if you can find them.

Official Ford Trilogy video (aka Mustang, GT and Cobra chase scene)

Makes me miss Los Angeles. The funny thing is that with the exception of the steel bridge shots, all of that was filmed in about a quarter mile radius. The just drove back and forth in the industrial area just east of downtown Los Angeles.

so who traded in there old mustang

I have a 1966 that my dad bought new. My daily driver is a 1996 GT that I bought new. In 2006 I'll be buying a SVT. I really don't think I could let one of my babies go.

Variant of the 2005 Mustang to be unveiled?

Yup. I also read that their market research showed that no one who was going to spend $38K on a car was going to want it stripped. If Ford thought it was a good idea to have an LX type car, they would still be selling the GTS/248A. If people are willing to pay for the full GT, Ford might as...

    Wheels

If it came with cool wheels then it would be no fun to put on aftermarket wheels. In a little over a year there will be 1/4 million 05 Mustangs on the road. What fun would it be if we all had the same cool wheels?

    The Complaint Department

That makes a good point. The 2005 is only 6" longer than the 65-66 that is often called the "small Mustang". You can account for the length increase purly from the good bumpers. TampaBear67 -- Good points!

There is a lot of noise in the current Mustang that I could do without. I think the motor noise would be a lot nicer if it was not competing with things like wind noise and body squeaks. My guess is that the new Mustang will be quieter with the windows up. It will probably be about the...

Amen brother. It really bugs me when people try to rewrite the history of the Mustang.

There is no truth to that. Lots of stupid things are done to get around CAFE and emissions standards but that is not one of them.
