    3.8 or 3.9??

Alright- I thought you were referring to current models.

    3.8 or 3.9??

The upper intakes are different between 3.8/3.9 and 4.2's... I assume you know that... but wanted to make sure that is clear. The lower is the same other than coolant line locations. The cam specs are slightly different.

    1998 v6 3.8, will a 2000 be a direct drop in?

There is also more to it than that. It depends on the year of the new motor, the body year. There are issues with the dampner, flywheel/flexplate, extension of the stock harness. You can't just block off the fuel line and make the system returnless. I've done it... so I know what it entails.

    3.8 or 3.9??

You are talking in circles. A 4.2 responds and mods similar to a 3.8. I have no clue what you are rambling about. Your post read as though the 4.2 had better cam, heads, intake.

    3.8 or 3.9??

Well the fact is the heads on a 4.2 are exactly the same as 99+ 3.8, the cam on the 4.2 is slightly more aggressive in some aspects, and the intake flows as well or better as a 3.8.

    1998 v6 3.8, will a 2000 be a direct drop in?

There is a little more to it than that. The main issue is modification of the 99+ fuel rail to be setup for a return fuel system. A chip/reflashed computer is necessary.

    3.8 or 3.9??

    ~15 hp, 25-30lb of torque compared to 99+ 3.8's.

    Disc brake pad change

It is pretty straight forward. 2 bolts to remove the caliper. 2002 procedure will be the same as a 2000.

coil pack not cause of rough idle

I would defintely get rid of the Bosch Platinums without a doubt. People have had problems with them such as your describing. I would get some Motorcraft's or Autolites in copper only.

    3.8 or 3.9??

I'm certain. They are basically the exact same engine.

how to set the tps sensor

The TPS is the trottle position sensor and virtually can not be adjusted on a V6. It was a trick used on older 5.0's but doesn't apply on EEC-V cars.

checking codes with a paper clip

94+ V6 Mustangs are OBD-II complaint cars and codes can ONLY be read with a reading device for OBD-II cars. No jumpers, no paper clips work.

    3.8 or 3.9??

More intake room? Huh? Virtually every bolt on for a 99+ 3.8L will work on the 04 3.9L. It's only a small variation of the crank and rods make the difference. Other than that the engine is identical to a 3.8L. SO don't get hung up on the .1L... it's the same motor in all other aspect.

    V6 tranny

94-98 V6 T-5's are among the weakest and 99+ are among the strongest stock T-5's put in a Mustang. But like it was said, a T-5 will not bolt up to a 4.6.

    How loud is your transmission?

You have a T-5 and what you describe is normal.

    chips

I was referring to SCT- Superchip Custom Tuning... it is a seperate division of Superchip with Jerry, the brain beind Fordchip's work, and a few other experts. Don't confuse SCT with "Superchips" Fordchip programming=SCT programming. Just for the record.
  17. S

    chips

Go with a SCT chip... fordchip.com, velocitymotorsports.com, rpm-mustangs.com all sell them. Far superior to Diablo, Autologic, etc.

    DTC code

Get the code read! Most Autozone's will do it for free.
  19. S

    DTC code

If you look at the list of trouble codes for the gauge cluser DTC, there are no emissions components listed. I'm referring "DTC" as the guage cluster trouble codes and NOT OBD-II/EEC codes.
  20. S

    DTC code

Getting codes pulled from the EEC is totally different system than the DTC;s on the guage cluster. You are confusing the 2 systems. DTC's have nothing directly to do with emissions.
