    I had a similar problem, though I didn't try holding the high-beams on, mine just wouldn't turn on. Turns out, the plug came unplugged from the switch, so I had to take the cluster dash off. Might check and see if it's a little loose.

    If you want it to turn on with your car, I'd tap into the accesories line (not sure where it is though), turns on your radio and what not when the car is turned on. As for the fuse, what amperage is the device rated for? Should tell you how much current it draws, then go and find a fuse...

    Check the voltage after the inertia switch also. My friend's was really quiet. Found that it was only getting 6.5 volts (also explains his low fuel pressure problems). Also as the pump fills with fuel it tends to quiet. 'Course you're seeing the exact opposite...

    I went the JR route too. However I had to modify it a little. Instead of using a 1/4" square piece of tube, I had to fabricate a flat metal tab. The 1/4" offset from the tube wouldn't allow the bracket to sit flush to the door sheet metal. YMMV, but that's what I had to do. Other than that...
