Anyone running SPEC brand clutch or have any experience with this?

Same here, I always ran Spec III. Like you said, maybe a little bit harder than stock. Not much though. Origional poster should check the routing of the cable. People are commonly misrouting them and getting a stiff pedal. Should be a straight shot to the fork connection. Promotion sells an...

You're absolutely right Hotfox, solid rollers are superior. I ran hydraulic in this setup basically because at the time I put it all together, I didn't know alot about solid rollers and the car was to see alot of street time. As far as hydraulics go though, I am impressed with the Anderson...

With 205 cc CNC Twisted Wedges , head flow shouldn't be a problem.:)

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind, head flow is going to be a big factor in how well it does in the upper rpms. My Canfields done by Brian Tooley were flowed at 308 / 264 (I know..crazy exhaust #s). Anyway, I think they really helped the N-111 in my case hold the curve up high...

Agreed, you'd want to be in fourth. I only use 5th in mine at about 75 or 80 mph, then it just fine. Not even breathing hard though.

Yep, just the Ford Racing Hydro rollers will work just fine. You may also want to consider rocker stud girdles and spend the money on good high quality rockers. Crane Golds work great or the higher end Scorpions work good also. One other thing, if you're going with the N111, I'd recommend 4:56...

Stock Ford Lifters about 6 years old. It's all in the cam design. It does require new valve springs every year.

LOL, yeah, keep in mind though that was with the N-111 cam not the N-71. I was shifting the thing at 7,800. I have 4:10s in the '87 that the engine is in now with the N-71. I think it would probably like 4:30s a little better though.

It's around 3100 lbs, full interior, steel roll cage. It has the QA-1 tubular K with QA-1 control arms and a Cervini hood which is one of the heavier ones. Gears are 4:56s.

UPR Anti-roll bar, QA-1 rear coilovers, UPR LCAs, Baseline suspension uppers, and UPR coil overs in front with crappy old 90/10 Lakewood struts. That was a 1.450 60'. Wish I could have ran out that pass. Haven't got to run the car since.

Don't underestimate the Anderson Cams. They work really well. See sig. My old combo with the N-111 in my '84 made 433 to the wheels. I just pulled that engine and stuck in my '87 LX with a set of out of the box 192 Canfields , Anderson N-71 cam, Vic Jr, and 750 Holley. I'm guessing it around 400...

    Problems Priming Oil Pump

The socket should have done the same thing. Are you sure the socket was the right size? Anyway glad to hear you got it going.

    Problems Priming Oil Pump

I guess it's possible, but I've never had to pack a pump on a ford engine to get them to prime. I'd pull the pan and see what's up.

    Anyone Use/Heard Of Promotion Clutches?

I have the Pro Motion clutch in mine I got from Walt. Actually just their disc with a Spec III pressure plate. Works great. It has a little bit of give to help with trans durability. The Spec III disc is too harsh for many transmissions if you're going to be powershifting all the time. I also...

    Problems Priming Oil Pump

There's something wrong. Did you change the pan and pickup to an aftermarket? Did you check the pickup to pan clearance? Are you sure the pump shaft is engaged in the pump?

    Re-torque guidlines on heads

I never retorque them. I think you pose a risk of breaking the seal on the lower studs (Many use RTV) causing a coolant leak. If you used good quality ARP studs, I'd skip it.

    hard clutch

Most of the time this is caused by a misrouted cable. Look at it from the front. Should pull on a straight shot. I've seen guys route them on the wrong side coming through the k-member and puts the cable on a bind. Check it.

    Distributor trouble

It's always baffled me why they made the EFI dizzys longer. If you look at a Non-EFI dizzy from bottom of the engine up, you'll see the dist. gear is flush with the block so the clip can stay up close to the block and actually do it's job. I've found if you take the FMS heavy duty driveshaft and...

    Torque box questions...

+1 You're better off doing it now while everything is straight rather than have to fix tore up or twisted ones. The Wild Rides kits work fine.
