Going to drive 2011 5.0 tomorrow.

So, I guess this is the official announcement of the Mustang's next drivetrain?

    Warranty Jeopardy with Mods?

A tune would be pushing it. I can almost guarantee that if you had an aftermarket tune on your car (not Ford approved) and the engine blew, you'd be very unlikely to have it covered under warranty. However, if you have a tune and your radio stops working, they will not be able to void your...

Ford to reveal 2011 Mustang powertrain updates at L.A. Auto Show

Here's what I am pretty confident about: Same architecture as 4.6: FRM cylinder walls(?), ~92mm bore, 4V DOHC, 80MM throttle body, variable cam timing A few of the above items are based on supplier or Ford engineer leaks. ;)

Ford to reveal 2011 Mustang powertrain updates at L.A. Auto Show

The coyote is based on the modular block with a few minor changes. The heads/intake etc. are all brand new designs. This motor shouldn't weigh any more than a 1999 Cobra 4v motor does.

Ford to reveal 2011 Mustang powertrain updates at L.A. Auto Show

Nah, you're right, the V6 is about that. It's pretty easy to get a GT with leather up to about 3600. While I don't doubt a small weight increase for the overall car, how in the world can the 4.6 gain 150lbs when going to a 5.0? Going to a 4V head and cast aluminum intake can't add that...

You must have meant to say 250-400lbs.

    2011 Mustang Leaked !!!

Due to the close bore spacing of the mod motors, that may be tough unless you source a block with a taller deck, or by some small chance they leave enough room in there to accomplish it. Until we know the geometry, we can only guess. :(

    2011 Mustang Leaked !!!

Maybe not in '11, but I would put money on it that in 6 years, we'll be lucky to have a turbo v6. Does anyone around here besides me know about the future CAFE requirements and why these ECO Boost engines have been created in the first place?

    2011 Mustang Leaked !!!

Government regulations. I've heard stock cammed 4.0Ls that sounded pretty good.

    Is my gt a cobra?

Since you have a GT, I would keep it as a GT and call the insurance company to send a representative to review your case and the information that Ford gave you. $30 a month is a decent chunk of change.

    A ghost from the past.....

Same here Paul, Direzza Star Spec Z1s or something like that. The brand new 'tire to have' in autocrossing. All season people have been asking me how I like them and I'm like "I don't know, they are my first sticky tire on this car". I've never gotten so much attention from something that...

    Notch Guy now...

Very nice.:flag: If I got back into another Mustang, it would have to be a notch, just because I'm addicted to lightweight cars now. :nice:

    A ghost from the past.....

Ha, when I had my Honda and my Mustang, I made it a point to share that my 130K mile Civic had more rust than my 190K mile Mustang everytime I saw the term "Rustang" used. I'm finding that almost everyone thinks that their car/brand is best.............:nono: Don't even get me started on how...

    A ghost from the past.....

Hey guys, I try to stop in every now and then to see how everyone is doing. Some of you may remember me........... I sold my car in July of '06 the same day it rolled over 200K miles. :nonono::nice: I kept the car as nice as I could for the 8.5 years I owned it and I hope the new owner is...
