    Starbucks tonight?

So maybe this time he'll have enough power so the cops can't catch up? :jester:

    Top Gear and the GT500

You're high. The modular is an abortion. With three & four valve heads, VVT, and a lot of RPM we have finally produced Mustang GT's that make 300 bhp. While in the meantime people routinely take pushrod 5.0's to 300+ rwhp using significantly less complex technology. Chevy uses pushrod...

how lenient is PIR regarding the helmet rule?

    1. They're strict enough. First time you go into helmet territory without one, they'll scribble "H" on your windshield, and you won't get out of the staging lanes without a helmet with that written on your windshield. 2. I'm not sure I'd worry. Many a person has come to PIR with a car...

    Starbucks tonight?

Yep :D. Beaverton 24SB was halfway between me and Vancouver, and it was a half hour drive. So it'd be about an hour drive each way for me to come out to your new 24SB meet location. It'll happen eventually, but not as often as Beavertown.

    Lost License/Car Storage?

Top it off. For a six month storage I wouldn't bother with stabilizer.

Google for "De Prony Brake". I find that kind of stuff interesting -- the origin of words and terminology.

    Top Gear and the GT500

Nope, brake horsepower is measured at the flywheel. For your reading pleasure, someone has written a nice Wikipedia article that covers all kinds of details on horsepower, including brake horsepower. I admit that I will have difficulty understanding you so long as you use terminology...

    Lost License/Car Storage?

I'd say move it periodically to rotate the tires. But even if you don't it would probably be fine. My Mustang sat in the garage for a couple of years without any ill effects -- tires okay, gasoline okay. It was very dusty but after I washed it, it was just as it was when I put it into storage.

Errr... what do you think brake horsepower is?

    Top Gear and the GT500

I thought overall it was a pretty fair review. The GT500 is a porker of a car tipping the scales at close to two tons, and let's face it ... a live axle on a $45K car is laughable. Ford has done nice things with the live axle, but if they want to stay competitive they should plan on deleting...

    Popping in front end

Just need ramps and a helper to turn the wheel. Basically impossible to check without help, unfortunately. But thankfully very easy to fix.

    Balky cruise control

LMAO. Yeah, I had forgotten about it. After I created this thread I spent some time gazing at the whole contraption speculating on what could be fubar. That's when I remembered the spring .

    Popping in front end

Popping just while you're turning the wheel? I'd say 90% chance it's worn out steering rack bushings. Replace the worn-out, mushy rubber ones with urethane (and lube them well), problem solved.

    Balky cruise control

I have an option #3 to add, now that I've had more time to think about this issue. I seem to remember there being a helper spring on the stock throttle body. Well, I don't have one installed any more (can't remember exactly why I ever removed it). Just the spring on the blade itself, which is...

    Beat by an '06 v6

Bite your tongue! :rlaugh: Oh wait... nevermind. Your advice is very sound. Best to modify the car to meet your own wants & desires, not to chase after the unattainable goal of beating everyone else on the street. And if I can add my own warning ... be very careful of StangNet. There...

    Balky cruise control

Anybody have experience with a balky cruise control -- specifically, what I'm seeing is that the CC won't keep the car at a steady speed. It gives a lot of throttle, overshoots the set speed by a couple mph, then closes the throttle and coasts until it undershoots the set speed, again by a...
