    I personally like the OEM convertible mounts. I have never used the poly mounts though so I cant give an opinion of them. I have used solid and they suck for a street car unless you have some reason that the motor absolutely can't move, like rigid turbo piping or something of that nature.

There is no phisical reason that they cant stay on the motor, it will clear with the radiator out no problem but your better off leaving the compressor hooked up and just tying it up out of the way.     Blocker ring or bent shift fork. Neither is a quick and easy fix. Mine would pop out of second if I let off the gas. It would make a bang like the tranny fell out on the ground. I fixed the problem by installing a new Tremec but I tore it down and found the blocker ring worn.

    I'm a MAC fan myself. I have never used the Spintech but I have heard a few cars with them and they sound awsome. I would probably go with those or the MAC's if for no other reason that my car wouldnt sound like another mustang with flows.

    You didnt say what year your motor is but as long as its an 87+ then your Ok with stock pistons and the 1.7's. I wouldnt run stock valve springs though, they are marginal for the stock cam and will float pretty easy with that much lift.
