    Bought an '01 GT recently (replaces my '65 fastback). Took it to car show 110 miles away from home last weekend and got a chance to measure highway mileage. At 25.5mpg did almost as well as my former '98 V6. I drive easy and this 'Stang is simply for cruising... FWIW was traveling 65-75mph...

    NADA says its worth $4975 in "1" condition. From what you describe its a "3" at best. A "3" is worth half of $4975. Thus the value is about $2,500 or there about. At $1,800 its a good deal provided it does not have any floorboard, cowl, or fender rot. One can't easily see cowl or floorboard...

    Build or buy in midwest?

    You're not going to get warranty on the '04 if you modify it even if you use Ford parts. If you add S/C then the VIN won't match and the warranty is voided. My '01 GT warranty specifically spelled out on a separate paper...no mods! It specifically mentions S/C as being a disqualifier. Jeff
