    Yes you do, to get the full travel. I usually undo the balljoint and leave my spindle on so I don't have to deal with the brakes in the way and the hose getting yanked on possibly. Do you have them unhooked now?

    If you have that puller he showed you it should come right off. As for the springs you just need a better compressor to get it to fit. That is all.

    Knocking at startup

    usually a loose Piston to Wall clearance causes that. High mileage parts. It should be fine for a while. Not much you can do other than build a new one. Fook it.

    Short block question

    These days it is usually cheaper to get a short block. By the time you deck the block, align bore the mains, buy new parts, etc. you usually spend more than a DSS or CHP short block. The local guys just don't do the volume to compete.

    70mm is too small. I have a 75mm on my 347 and it makes plenty of torque and it is a low CR NA motor.

    Timing Chain Question

    I would leave it, Ford engineers with years of experience with the old 302 have way more education and reasons than we do. It probably slings some oil around for helping lube the chain too. I kept mine.

    Do i need a mounting bracket?

    The SVT Cobra, Bullitt and Mach 1 models all came with 13" front rotors and matching calipers. So yes it should just bolt right up.

    I have 17x9 up front with 255/40R17s and 18x9.5 in back with 285/35R18s and it is pretty low. I have my suspension pretty stiff, inner fender lips rolled and some rack limiters in.

    What do you mean by not fitting, width or lenght? Explain how you are using the puller, you could be making a minor mistake of screwing in the install part and accidently doing it backwards. My buddy did that and ruined my puller, luckily it was MAC and I got a new one for free.:shrug:

    Oh yeah, get the cobra lower port matched if you get the AFRs, you will be glad you did. Worth the $100 or so.

    My first choice would be AFR 165s since you want a smaller head. Their CNC program is unmatched. I have had my AFR 185s on 3 Motors, they make great power and are durable as hell. Trick flows would be my second choice.

    Thanks again guys for all the ideas. I think I am settling on Red with some ghosted stripes that are a tad lighter and only show up in certain angles and light. Kind of the best of straight red and stripes.
