    More overheating problems :(

Three ideas here. One, there is air in the system. Likely, as this can run fine untill the air pocket gets near the t-stat and then t-stat will not open due to a combination of a vapor lock and the fact that steam does not transfer heat very well. This will be worse at high engine/water...

    Ranger Axles???

Stock axles are manufactured by Foote axle and gear (same as superior axle and gear), for 28 spline non-through hardend axles (case/surface hardened only on stock) they are about as good as they come. If you want better axles you could buy race axles and pay a lot more, or step up to 31 spline...

    C-springs installed (pic)

looks good, what tire sizes are you running? Just trying to picture what it would look like with 245/45-17 instead.

How many slines? 28 or 31?

Yes, yes, and maybe. In that order, I think. Anyway, yes your axles are 28 spline, the explorer (and post '86 F150) is 31 spline, and the housing and axle need to be of the same spline count to work. You could change the side gears on the 31 spline to 28 spline, but this is a little bit of...

    Ranger Axles???

Well if your saying "new" than of course there is: Ford parts: To expensive. Common auto parts store: Good price, chinees junk axles. Specialty shop like 4WD parts: Good parts, price a bit high. Drivetrain.com or simular are the best for price/quality for replacement axles. OR get the...

How much did it cost to get your gears installed?

BTW, what ratio are you installing? They are a really good upgrade, and will feel better than any other bolt. Best to run the highest ratio you can live with, otherwise you will regret not running a higher ratio later. Nothing short of a 3.73 is worth running unless your running a torque monster...

    4 Cyl Fox Springs?

You can use 4cly springs in rear to increase weight transfer also. In the front the 4cly springs work ok too, but tsprings like Moroso drag springs work better for that. Using the 4cly springs up front is best done by adding shims under the upper insulator, unless you want to lower the front and...

    Alternator Upgrade

One option is to get a 130 amp from a late (post-88) T-Bird 5.0 or from a 94-95 GT or a 95A from a Post '90 Bronco. The mod is easy, and from a wreaking yard a alt. is cheap, even if the first one doesn't work (highly unlikely), two would not be half the cost of a rebuilt one, yet alone a new...

    dipstick problem here.

It will cost you, but the best deal is to use an aftermarket pan like a Moroso, Canton, or a Miladon.

    Question about indicators and gauges

These do not function on an LX. This was a GT option, Ford in their infinate wisdom choose to include the indicator/light assembly, wiring, and everything but the low coolant sensor, the electronic box under the dash, and the bulbs, from the LX. If you wish to make them work all you need is...

    4 Cyl Fox Springs?

Best place to get a single is a good RV center, they sell sevice replacements for many aplications and can fit it to the spring you have. (I know this only as my father had to replace just one on an old Nissan pickup that had an aftermarket air bag/helper spring kit installed, he had know idea...

Bullitt wheels on a 92 Coupe??

If you use the Ford racing/SVO style 5 lug front rotors then the center caps will not fit. If you do a SN95 spindle convertion it works great. On the back either the 5 lug drum or SN95 convertion will work, but I prefer the SN95 if not for the disk brake upgrade alone, the wheels will be out...

How much did it cost to get your gears installed?

Without a lift I always remove the rear from the car. Easy to do, and makes easy work of the job. Place the rear axle on tall jackstands or short stands on top of a workbench. Even better if place in two vices on the workbench as I do now! (Came with the house I bought this summer :D Wife liked...

Finally pics of the primed LX

Hood is not to my taste, but the car shows a lot of progress, nice work. Looks great, hope to be doing the same thing next summer to my '90 LX.

Syncros blown or pilot bearing draging

Another T5 WC. that's it. If you ge Tremec 3550 you will need to replace the bell, and if you go TKO you will need a new clutch plate... Given this is a NS95 platform you would also neeed to do some other mods to make it work. I do not know all of them, but a driveshaft spacer is one, don't...

How much did it cost to get your gears installed?

ZERO, Do it myself (3x all work fine). Really is made out to be a lot more mysterious than it is. It is time consuming to do it right, but you can buy a extra rear end and work on it without taking your car out of commision, and still it will still be cheaper than the labor you pay someone else...

All the help I can get for sputtering

Gap should be .054", if you can't get a strong enough spark to fire this gap, I would look into problems with the coil circuit (week power to coil) and TFI or having to rich a fuel mixture.

Are 86 and 87 brakes the same?

No, they are not the same. If you want to run '87-'93 5.0 brakes you need to have '87-'93 5.0 spindles. The '87-'93 2.3 uses the same brakes as a Pre-'87 5.0. Everything is different between the two, different calipers, rotors, lines, bearings, seals, struts. The only part they share alike is...

Did a clutch install and now my engine vibrates around 2000 rpm.

Did you or the machine shop replace the 3 dowels in the flywheel after re-surfacing? If not, then the pressure plate will be off center and this would cause a vibration.

How can I safely jack up the engine and replace motor mounts without a lift?

Good advise on the fan, I believe that is why I had to rock the motor to get the mounts out... probably a lot easier to remove the fan, duh!
