Take a look at their turbo exhaust tube. It's unbelievable that people buy into this stuff.

    mach 460 replacement help

Definitely ditch the stock head unit and front speakers. For the HU, I'd get an Alpine CDA-9811/9813 depending on your budget, and for the fronts, get some Alpine Type-R 5x7 coaxils/5 1/4" components. You'll have to run new speaker wire from the HU to the speakers, or at the very least tap...

    Alpine Type-S 12's

The S's should be fine for you. The R's like a lot of power, and if you're only going to be able to give them 225 each, they probably wouldn't be much difference than the S's. I'd recommend the R's if you gave them 400+ RMS, but for that power, the S's will be fine.

    Mach 1000 Questions

Shouldn't be too expensive. I think they changed the harness after 2001, so you might have to go to best buy or circuit ciry or a local installer, and they should have one. Not sure on the price, though.

    Mach 1000 Questions

Yeah, you just need the harness made for the mach460 system. Be glad you didn't pay extra for the 1000. Some decent aftermarket equipment puts it to shame pretty easily.

    Can the alt. handle this?

I know what you mean. I'm still not sure which sub to run, I still have about 5 choices. I know the O will be louder than the K sealed, but the K's should get pretty loud, while having great SQ, ported.

    Mach 1000 Questions

Welcome to the boards. If you have the 1000, there will also be 4 amps in a rack in the trunk: http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/catalog/itemdisplay/589.html The Mach460 is the same, just without the 2 subs, and 2 less amps. Most likely, you have the 460. Bill

    Can the alt. handle this?

I think the 650.2's are 7.25" O.D., too, so good thing you got the 550.2. With about 500W sealed, those should sound loud enough. I'd actually recommend the O series if you're going to run that much power to them. They're meant to be run sealed, though you'll be about $20 over your 450 mark...

How can I swap to a 2001+ Stereo

Look familiar? She's been great over the last year and a half. It's in storage over the winter right now, and I've been doing some things to it. Besides the stereo, aluminum driveshaft(stock one bent), stock h-pipe :( (had to sell O/R X cause of emissions), tires, and some interior stuff...

    Can the alt. handle this?

Like he said, you should be fine. Good choice in equipment, too. What series of viper's did you get? 550.2 or 650.2? Also, are you going to run the 12k sealed or ported?

    new to subs and boxes...

If you are looking at firing them through the hole going into the trunk, you'll need to completely seal off the trunk from the cabin of the car, or you're going to get major cancellation. If you want to do something somewhat different than most, you could fire the subs towards the rear, which...

How can I swap to a 2001+ Stereo

If you have the stock system, they should be interchangeable. I don't have the wiring diagrams, though, and I'm not positive as to what they changed, if anything, when they changed to the 1.5 din unit. That, and the bezel, like you mentioned, should be it.

    sealed boxes

Silicone's fine to use, as long as you let it cure for 24 hours before you drop in the sub. The only harmful fumes it produces are when it's curing.

MOVED: Can you make A Mach 460 System into a 1000?

I don't think there's too much involved, but for the price you add in the mach 1000 components, you could just get an aftermarket system that will kill it. Check out this thread from a while back: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=387314

    No sound...factory amp?

The factory amp needs a remote wire going to it, too. Try splicing the main remote wire into the two remote leads, the one for the factory amp, and the other for the amp that goes to the subs. The reason only the subs work is because that amp is the only one that's getting power on the remote...
