    Motorcraft PCV valve?

You can ask O'Reilly's to order it for you. They're like 5x the cost of the no name brand, but the no name brand is like a dollar, so if you really want it, go ahead and spring for it.

    water pump

I may do that one day, right after I put the new heater hoses on and finish painting the bedroom.

    water pump

I recently replaced the radiator, but I didn't replace the thermostat. That does bring up a question, though: how will I know when the thermostat dies?

    water pump

My water pump is gushing, I need to replace it. What is really the difference between the expensive Napa pump and the cheap Autozone pump? Since the engine has not overheated, do I really need to replace the thermostat? Engine temperature hasn't gone above normal operating temperature...

    flamed pin stripe

I like my pinstripe- white on burgundy. since the existing stripe is orange, I would go for the reddish orange flame stripe. post a picture when you're done. I think it sounds cool.

    Start school tomorrow

How much electronics do you want? A lot of the chips that go in car systems are made by, well, chip manufacturers, not car manufacturers. I know Freescale in Austin provides chips for automotive applications, and my former employer also did. you could do some research on chip makers'...

Is anyone here from northern CA?

There is a slim possibility that I will be moving to the south bay area from Texas. I'm worried about how the car will handle this. She can barely make it up the Texas hills, I know she won't be able to make it up those CA hills. Is it difficult to get our cars in compliance with smog...

    1st ever tuneup - Opinions?

You didn't mention hoses- if you haven't already checked them, do so. Don't buy the K&N replacement for the stock filter- that will be a waste of money. Modify the CAI first, and then buy the K&N. The air filter is probably the least restrictive part of the stock air input.

    Changing belts

What is tool that you release the belt tensioner with called? I thought it was a breaker bar, but I went to Sears to buy one and didn't see anything like what I needed. Would Autozone have been a better place to try?

    Visteon or Modine

I went with Cu Modine. I'm now $245 poorer, but I have the upper and lower hoses, and the radiator and heater hoses are on order. I picked up belts, too, b/c, well, heck, may as well. haven't changed those in a while, and the ac squealing is getting on my nerves. Thanks, everyone.

    Visteon or Modine

And it just dropped right in? no bracket adjustments? where did you get it? Yes, aluminum is a lot lighter, but my goal is better cooling, not less weight.

    Visteon or Modine

The Modine is copper, I don't know about the other one. Copper is a better thermal conductor than aluminum. So if the physical dimensions are the same, does that mean it wil fit? That might sound like a stupid question, but sometimes are there are other design factors which which affect...

    Visteon or Modine

OK, I've narrowed it down to 2 brands. Radiator.com has a 3 row Visteon for $149, carparts.com has a 3 row Modine for $164. Visteon has the obvious price advantage, but I know the Modine fits (check out this nifty article http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2001/10/radiator/index.shtml). Has...

What should I gap my plugs to?

Ah yes, being a girl is a major advantage in changing spark plugs... small hands make reaching the plugs much much easier- even those damn two on the driver's side. Don't take all the wires off at once unless you label them first. Much better to pull the wires and replace the plugs one at a...

    shopping for a radiator

It's not that I am uncomfortable working on my car. I do work on it; I do my own tune ups. But that's relatively quick and easy and, more importantly, it's stuff I can do without being busted by the apartment management. They don't allow people to work on their cars in the parking lot. I...

    shopping for a radiator

I called these guys, they quoted me $98 for a Visteon after-market radiator, plus $7 shipping, which puts them at the uncompetitive end of the local price variations. On the other hand, they'll call me tomorrow with a labor quote, so we'll see if they can beat $130.

    shopping for a radiator

Lemme 'splain something: I have no place to work, no one to help me, and no second vehicle in case I need something in the middle. I won't be doing this myself. That means I have to buy an exact fit, or they will charge me even more to install it. The installation quote he gave me was...
